Well, I'd love to say I enjoyed this book...but I finished it feeling angry and cheated. There is no HEA, I don't know if there's another book planned, but even so...couldn't SOMEBODY have been happy when the book ended?

I think the author was likely going for a PN version of "Sex and the City". Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of Bushnell's book, nor the series. I'm just a fairly well-read, literate, readaholic who wants to feel something pleasant at the end of my escap More...

Lily is one of the favourite succubus girls working for Prada loving Satan who will do anything to help her girls-but Lily is getting tired of sending every guy to hell and never having one wake up beside her in the morning. Now it looks like somebody wants to kill her and her friends.Just then sexy PI Nathan arrives to discuss her connection to a missing man...

Succubus in the City is for people who know and understand the hotspots in NYC, and appreciate top brand names. Although Ms Harper tried hard to make her main character, Lily, appear to not be shallow, I walked away from this book with all its pretentious name dropping feeling that the character was nothing but a shallow girl whose only care was about how she looked. Seriously, who could read a book where Satan is projected to be a female with classic type taste and really believe that the boo More...

Hmm.. I don't now how to put it nicely. I just finished reading it and I thought it was predictable but actually everything was twisted another way round when what I'd expected doesn't seem to match. This rather be a short review of mine since I don't anything of which if I like or dislike it. Maybe the book is just a so-so for me.

Everything was pretty subtle. It was a fast read and quite entertaining. Actually I was amazed of how a demon works like any other normal people in a daily More...

Nina Harper dishes up chick lit with a supernatural twist in her novel Succubus in the City. As the title hints, this "Sex and the City"-style story follows the exploits of four fashion savvy New York businesswomen who also happen to be some of the Devil's favorite demons....Harper's novel is an entertaining read, th More...

Lily is a succubus who works for the Devil who in this case, really does wear Prada. She has fabulous clothes, a great job, caring friends but feels lonely because men only want to sleep with her and not get to know her. Until she meets Nathan Coleman, a laid-back, gorgeous P.I who seems to genuinely like her.

Nathan is looking for a missing man who had Lily's contact information and he wants to know if there's any connection between her and the guy. What he doesn't know is that Lily i More...

Ugh. Painful, very painful. I read a few negative reviews, but thought what the heck! I'll give it a whirl. That was my first mistake. My second was hoping it was comparable to Succubus Blues (Richelle Mead). It wasn't.
Think Sex in the City. I hate Sex in the City. Stupid brand name dropping bimbos with nothing to do but talk about what they want to buy/screw/wear...but I'm off topic.
The book. Right. Much the same. I'm not really a fan of vapid women, in books, tv or reality. I like a More...

I gave this book until well beyond the midpoint, but I cannot bring myself to finish it completely.

The repetition was endless. It was like all of sex in the city was boiled down into a super concentrated syrup that was impossible to swallow and extremely unpalatable.

I promise. You can tell me something ONCE and I will be able to retain that information through an entire BOOK. Give me a recap if there's a series and this is the second book. I don't need a recap of More...

Interesting and fun! The heroine characters are beautiful, sexy, and somehow nice in the middle of their demonic jobs. There are many great brands everywhere. Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, and Chanel. Even the Greatest Satan here wears Chanel and Hermes scarf! ...and She is the only woman I’ve ever seen who makes an Hermès scarf look like a scarf and not an advertisement for the size of her bank account...

However, I'm a little bored in the middle of this book. The problem here doesn't

A lighthearted ChickLit Occult novel, made all the more fun since I'm playing a succubus in Threads.

Lily is a succubus who has a few demon girlfriends. Living all those centuries without love really seems to be getting to her, even though her life otherwise is lots of fun. If you aren't too straightlaced when it comes to fiction and religion (main characters include Satan) and liked books like Sex In the City and The Bridget Jones Diary, you might enjoy this book.

I thought this book was little more than a harlequin romance novel with a clever title. It took a while for me to really get into it, a good 150 pages at least. The beginning is a lot of fashion & dessert.

However, the plot finally did emerge, and is intriguing. It's a rather fresh idea.
Harpers' writing style is easy to read, though it's a bit repetitious. of redundancy. (To specify - there is a fair amount of what I would consider man bashing, though mild not blatant, mostly More...

Lily works in a fashion magazine by day and is a succubus by (some) night(s). Her girlfriends are also demons. They're all trying to get on with their jobs both in the real and demon world and dealing with the aftermaths of their demonic jobs. Theres also a fundamentalist group looking to stop them.

When Nathan Coleman enters her life Lily is intrigued, then they become friends and she wonders if he would be the one to make her human again.

Entertaining but nothing much, More...

so this book was filled with missed opportunities it could have been really good. Lilly is a succubus and one of satan's "chosen" this book should be about Lilly trying to break her contract with satan or at least her wacky exploits as a succubus. instead it was a book dedicated to chic new york restaurants/food/alcoholic beverages/and ben and jerry's ice cream. and then there was the ending that wasn't an ending basically i felt robbed blind.

I started a reading challenge and this novel was picked up, at the library thank God, as part of it. While I enjoyed the writing and concept of the novel, I found the pace slow and the premise thin. These demons all lunch, and their main subjects of conversation are sex, food, clothes, men, the devil and love.

If you enjoyed Reaper and Sex in the City on television then I suggest this book is for you.

Worst book ever? Let's see.
* Terribly drawn, one-dimensional characters ripped from "Sex & the City"
* Smug superiority despite poor writing and lack of imagination
* A story that peters out before it even begins
* A "tune in next time to find out what happens!" ending

Verdict: yes*.

*Caveat: Dorothea Z. Mongulla's astoundingly awful _True Love in Vermont_. But really, this is close.

Succubus in the City by Nina Harper is chick lit for the supernatural crowd. Think "Sex in the City" for demons. Lily, a 3000 year old Babylonian priestess, tells the story with lengthy descriptions of her designer lifestyle.

This is a great, darkly comic idea. Unfortunately, the tone doesn't match, but goes right for the chick-lit cliches of label-dropping and the idea that female empowerment means buying expensive shoes and destroying lunkheaded guys from New Jersey. Nonetheless, I 'll read the sequel.

Such a fun debut!

Lily is a succubus, luring men with lust and sending them straight to hell -- after sex, of course. She and her fellow minions have been targeted by a religious fundamentalist group that seems to be getting inside info from a fellow demon.

this was a clever and well written book. however the ending sucked. neither of the two major plot lines got resolved. it feels like the author just got tired of writing and stopped. If there is a sequel it might be redeemable.

Imagine sex in the city - but they are all demons. Had the innovation and novelty to keep you going through a basic chick-lit "where is my mr right" paint by numbers story.

It is confusing in bits such as satan is refferred to as the prince of hell, martha and satan, all in the one paragraph. I don't think that was very well thought out.

I wanted to like this book more since it was a gift, but I felt no sympathy for the main character; she was shallow and whiny and overall just not interesting. The plot was choppy and the book spent more time talking about the apartments, clothes and accesories owned by the characters than the characters themselves. The ending did provide a satisfactory conclusion that I felt was true to the situation, while leaving the possibility for a sequel, but I won't be reading it (unless it is gifted c More...
