The deranged serial killer/grizzled detective/psychological profiler is hardly a new genre in the world of thrillers and suspense. What sets one apart from another is the depth of the characters and how adept the author is at getting the reader into the head of the serial killer. Anne Frasier it batting a thousand on this one.

First I want to state that I got this book free for my Kindle. I did not read what it was about and I thought it was a different story. I was a few chapters into the book when I realized my error but I kept reading anyway. I felt the book had a good beginning, middle, and end. I feel Anne Frasier left no unanswered questions when she finished the book. I also like how she could have a sequel using the characters to work another case if the she wishes.

A serial killer is on the loose. Tagged the Madonna Murderer because he kills both single mothers and their infant sons, it is up to Detective Max Irving to track him down.
I got this book at a point when it was offered on Kindle for free and I was, quite honestly, mainly pulled in by its' cover rather than by the story synopsis. I'm so glad I did get the opportunity to be introduced to the work of Anne Frasier through this Kindle offering however. After reading Hush, I know I will purchase and...more

I like a good crime thriller, and this was a good one. Not great, but good. A few times I had to think if I'd read this book another time before because certain parts of it I was experiencing deja vu. I got the book for free via amazon.com so I'm not going to be complaining about the price.

I was able to borrow this book for free from booklending.com and decided to give it a try. Normally I wouldn't have picked up this book but I came across it while looking through kindle e-books. I don't understand all the rave reviews. Crime novels are supposed to have a sense of thrill or suspense and that only came toward the end of the novel. There were no exciting twists, the only exciting page turning was when the novel was wrapping up. I did appreciate how the male and female leads didn't...more
This book was fantastic. I never wanted to put it down. All the characters had complex personalities that really made the book come to life. You got to see both the professional and personal lives of the majority of the characters which made them seem more real. The only problem I had with any of the characters happened to be the main character. Her personality seemed to be what most people would use as a cover. She seemed very tough with a "go-get-em" attitude when she really should have been s...more
This easy thriller kept my interest but the ending left me with lots of questions. I felt that Ivy's character wasn't fully developed - the reader knows next to nothing about her life before she was attacked. Where was her family? Or her friends? Could she really pick up her life and start over just like that? And I don't want to spoil anything, but what about Ethan? Maybe I just wanted the ending to be wrapped up nice and neat but it leaves a lot hanging. On the other hand, I felt that the kill...more
Another new author and another I greatly enjoyed. However, I looked up others by her after finishing this one and they all sound very "samey" which is a shame.
This one is about a criminal profiler who lost her baby son 16 years previously to a serial killer who murdered unmarried mothers and their new babies. Out of the blue she gets a call that he's restarted his spate of killings and is asked for her help in catching him.

Ivy comes back to Chicago from to help profile and apprehend a serial killer known as The Madonna Murderer who usually preys on young unwed mothers and leaves his calling card (a snow globe of mother and child) in the infants' cribs. He claims killing the mothers is right b/c they are "whores" and killing the infants is an act of love.
Ivy, who has been touched by a violent crime boldly helps go after this sick twisted monster, hoping to catch him before he stricks again.

This is so good it's hard to believe it's a debut, so polished it the end result! It's a taut crime thriller with precision plotting - I even fell for one or two of the red herrings (which, I'm proud to say, is a rare thing) - and I was kept literally on the edge of my seat for the entire thrilling journey.
The characters are endearingly, humanly flawed, the plot is gripping, and the writing is perfectly suited to the genre. I will certainly be trying more by this author because if t...more

Hush little baby.......completely rocked my reading. In love with mysteries...and this one was by far a great one. A friend lent me this book and I read through it quickly because it goes deep into the mind of a serial killer. The Madonna Murderer preys on baby boys and their unwed mothers. But stops after 13 years....now he is back and doesnt realize one of the mothers survived. So Ivy has returned to find the killer along with Det. Max Irving - who has his own problems with his son - who also....more
Pretty good book. The story progressed at a good pace. Written from the point of view of several characters, but was never confusing as to who was speaking. Explained some back story of all the people. Didn't give all the details, just enough to reel you in. Very glad it wasn't overdone in detail. Ending was good. Answered questions without giving up too much. Only complaint was the number of editorial errors. But it was a free Kindle book and I'm finding there are many errors in these free book...more
I like to read about police cases online but never buy books about it, I got this book for free through Amazon and give it a chance. It was a good book, it kept me switching the pages. At the end there was something missing that I can't explain, even thou It did answer a lot of my questions still left me wanting to know more like what happen with some of the characters like Ethan real parents, or how did Ivy survive. Oh well if they ever do a sequel I guess I would have the answers to my questio...more
I read this book in a couple days which is always a good sign! This book is like watching Criminal Minds without the quirky dialogue and clever quotes, but is still a page turner. The book follows a criminal profiler as she tracks down a serial killer that kills mothers and young children, called the Madonna Killer. A little explicit but not over the top, for me anyways. If you like crime dramas and don't mind entering the mind of a killer, you will also enjoy it. Blogged: http://www.nearsighted...more
Hush is a fairly run-of-the-mill serial killer plot with all the familiar elements except that the victims are always a mother and baby. Although the terrain is much-visited this is nevertheless a very readable book and both Ivy and Max are likeable and believable characters.
Not at all sure how valid the progression of the killer's actions are but this is not a book you want or need to go deeply into. An easy read where the plot flows along and the writing is very competent.

The story was very compelling, the plot was twisted, but kept me interested. I very much enjoyed the book until the last two chapters when it seemed as though the author quickly decided to end the book. Everything came together quickly, almost too quickly. I did like how she left the ending open, almost as if alluding to a sequel - which I would definitely read.

This author had a clean straight forward writing style, without a lot of the trite over-adjective-style and pretention of making protagonists elitists. She also used the convention of having details from a subculture authentic with the punk music knowledge of the teenage character. The story goes that after 10 years a serial killer, who was never caught is active again, he kiss single women and their new born boy babies. One of his victims actually lived, unknown to him, and took a new identity...more
I picked this book up for $0.99 for my Kindle on a daily deal, not expecting much. I don't read much mystery/suspense, okay, basically none at all, so maybe that's why I liked this so much, out of the ordinary for me. It was great though! The story line was interesting, the psycho guy was truly completely mad, I read it in 5 days, which is fast for me.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. A bit predictable, but I was in the mood for a quick read and it fit that category perfectly. The author was able to tie up any loose ends and not make it a quick ending. Characters were connected easily, assumptions made while reading were credible. Has all the markings for a made for Tv kind of movie.
This was a borrowed book on my Kindle from Amazon Prime. I love serial killer tales, and Anne Frazier has a way of writing that sucks you in, and makes you think in the characters mindset. She does leave a bit to be desired, however, when it comes to grammar, punctuation, spelling, and cliffhangers.
Just finished reading this book. The writer put a good effort to make readers knows what is run through the killer's mind. Every character has its own story, gh it is lengthy, but it is good because i can imagine every detailed of it. However, i'm pretty disappointed with this dull climax.
P/s- the killer is clear example of paranoid schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder with theme of symmetry.
4/5

This book by Anne Frasier is a very good read. The characters, even the screwey ones, are believable and the plot just keeps on thickening. Enjoyed the concept of the book and the way the characters were developed. A good read.
