A Well Read Woman (April)
"I believe the time in the mountains helped Gabe get back his art. And I believe you and the baby helped him get back his heart..."

Laura is pregnant and on the run from her deceased husband's family, when she is found stranded on the side of a snowy Colorado road. A moody artist named Gabriel stops to lend her a helping hand, and offers her shelter at his house. What Gabriel wasn't expecting, was for Laura to rescue him in return...

I'd give this about a 1.5 if I could. I didn't actively HATE it, I just actively disliked it. It was a bookclub book, and although I'd never pick it up on my own, I really did try to keep an open mind. I've never read any Nora Roberts before, so I didn't know what to expect. Well, scratch that. I did expect that someone who seems to crank out books as fast as she does would at least know a little bit about the fundamentals of writing. In that expectation, I was sorely disappointed. The incomplet ...more
I know I gave it a 5 star before, but after my english has improved and I re-read it for the second time, I found that there are things I don't like about this book. Don't misunderstand, I still love it overall, but just not as much as I used to.

Maybe because it was one of Nora Roberts earlier works. Maybe because I'm under a paranormal spell of the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter and Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. But I found something lacking in Gabriel's Angel. The rel
I cannot for the life of me think of why Gabriel fell in love with Laura. She's a meek, insecure, door mat that has no redeeming quality except her beauty, which she herself says is all she has. She finally got a back bone for a full two minutes and then quickly lost it again.

I imagine their HEA is full of Gabriel trying to convince her to stop apologizing for breathing. Dear god, Laura is a horrible character. Not like... a horrible person or a villain or anything, she just has nothing to recom
I've been hunting up old out-of-prints by Ms. Roberts and found this one, a Silhouette published in 1989. It is sweet with underlying issues of abuse that will show up in more depth in her later books. Laura is slow to trust Gabriel at some levels and quick at other levels, which I found somewhat disconcerting, since I felt the physical side would have been the last area in which she would regain her trust. It seems to have been the earliest and far too soon to not cause some ripples of disquiet ...more

Pregnant, alone and on the run to protect her unborn child, Laura Malone found herself stranded on a snowy Colorado road, at the mercy of a stranger. Fortunately, Gabriel Bradley's only intention that fateful night was to provide her shelter.
She was an angel with midnight blue eyes and a shock of blond hair, and Gabe might have thought she had come out of the snowy night to save him --- if he were the kind of man to believe in such things. But ever since he had lost his beloved brother, he had l
So I thought this was supposed to be a holiday read? Oh well, it was a sweet story nonetheless. It started out strong, so much mystery, suspense, and passion, but then it fizzled out pretty weakly. Overall it was a quick, easy read with a sweet sentiment.

Nora Roberts can always produce a good read for me. This was one of her older stories and her writing style has certainly changed over the years. This was a great book and a wonderful love story.
Although a bit unrealistic, very sweet story about two broken people who find a way to heal by relying on each other. As always, Robert's characterization of people as well as dialogues are enjoyable to read. A good novel to curl up with in a mountain cabin next to a fire while drinking a glass of wine (which is how I read it). I recommend it for those hopelessly romantic.

I just want to add, it is interesting to see Robert's earlier work. You can see how much she has improved on how to develop a
Usually I like her books: Comfort reads and a sure thing. But this one just lacked all the ingredients: a very silly thin plot, no romance and no likeable characters. This is the worst book by NR I have ever read. It's just dragged out and boring.

He is an artist and aparently they are moody and have to be tolerated. She aparently is abused which has left her a scared little mouse, but none of the abuse is shown, only told. Then there is The Danger which disapeares in a most silly way. Add to th

Laura Malone, widowed and eight months pregnant, is on the run from her disapproving former in-laws, who want to raise the baby themselves in their blue-blooded lifestyle. A car accident in the snow brings her to cranky artist Gabriel Bradley. Laura is snowbound with Gabe in his cabin and he offers to marry her to help defeat the in-laws. This was the first Nora Roberts book I have ever read which continued the story after the hero and heroine got married. Laura and Gabe learn to build a new fam

First off, GABRIEL'S ANGEL is, indeed, a reprint of the original Silhouette edition that was published in 1989. I had read this story years ago, but wanted to reread it and was intrigued with the new cover. Is the book a Christmas story? Not in the literal sense. In the way that it inspires love, happiness, selflessness, and a sense of well-being, then yes, it's a good holiday read.

Laura Malone, former model and a woman whose face was known worldwide, is on the run--not from an abusive husband
I’ve returned once more to the land of Nora Roberts. I’m working my way through an intense non-fiction piece about art in World War II at the moment and I needed a break to something fun and fluffy. So while making what has become my weekly trip to the library I picked up Gabriel’s Angel, a new to me Nora Roberts for a much needed palate cleanser. I’m happy to report that this is not as painful as my previous forays into early Roberts fare this year. While this story is simplistic and lacking in ...more

Lackluster, no suspense and seemed to be cut short

Started off very slow, hard to get interested in the story. By the middle of the book finally a story started to develop, but just as soon as it started it ended. Really no plot, characters were poorly portrayed and there was no storyline to captivate your attention. Not Nora's best work, I was sadly let down with this book.

Gabriel Bradley was returning to his cabin in the Colorado mountains in a heavy snowstorm when an oncoming car slid into the guardrail. The driver, Laura Malone, was very pregnant. Her car was damaged enough that it could not be driven, so Gabriel took her to his cabin to wait out the storm. By the time the storm had passed, they were falling in love with one another. Lovely story.

Good story line

The idea behind the story was good but the lack of depth to the characters left me wanting more. We should have been given the opportunity to get to know Amanda and Cliff better they could have been and should have been written with more attention. The evil Mother in Law gave up to easy with very little explanation to a vital part of the story.
I loved this story!! It had me so hooked from the very beginning that I didn't want to put it down. There is such emotion in this book from the moment Laura and Gabe meet on that snowy evening. Laura and Gabe both have secrets and past hurts they are trying to move on from. Maybe fate has decided to step in and help.

This is the first book I've read by Nora Roberts. I know she's a famous author, but the fact is, after a long hiatus from reading (too much interest in the computer), I've stuck mostly to my first love, which is historical romance. Back in the day, I read a lot of Harlequin Romances, which were contemporary, but since starting to read again, I've not read much in the contemporary line.

However, I have to say that I loved this story! It was wonderful, caught my attention from the get-go, and held
I debated whether or not I should give this book 2 or 3 stars. My rating is probably somewhere between the two. I got very, very annoyed by the POV Nora Roberts used to narrate this story. The varying third person POV drove me crazy! It constantly switched between telling Gabe and Laura's thoughts and they were thinking the exact same things. The book could've been half the size and a lot less redundant had Nora Roberts just chose to tell one side. The story line of the book also seemed to drag ...more

Nora Roberts continues to give you amazing characters in a fantastic story. I read this almost 6 years ago and story was so captivating stuck with me I just had to buy it for my Kindle and reread it again the characters in the story are so wonderful you keep them with you

This book was so much fun. The other night I was down in the dumps, and picked this book up from a pile that my neighbor had loaned me. I loved it! I stayed up all night reading this book, simply because it was too much fun to stop reading.

The characters felt real. The feelings that developed between them in a very short time were very believable. I could imagine things happening as the story unfolded. Some of the interactions between the characters "made my heart a flutter!"

as always

Nora never fails to satisfy my need to be reading a good book. Even though she it such a prolific writer, every book is a testimony to her genius.
I have nothing against the romance lit, but I have only read a handful of books from that genre - most of them paranormal-esque and from Nora Roberts. So, when looking for some light and fluffy holiday reading, I thought this might do the trick. If anyone asked me how this book was, I would give a resounding, "Well, it's okay!"

I'm not really sure how to rate Gabriel's Angel. It's not bad, but I found myself just waiting for it to end. It's a good, sweet story filled with affluent people of both
This story was about Gabriel, an artist, who lost his brother Michael in Plane crash. After that happened, Gabe blamed himself and he became a recluse in a cabin. They both secreted fell in love with each other during that time, and after Laura told Gabe her story, he decided to marry her. It was a bit of an adjustment, but love won in the end. Eleanor Marie Robertson was born on October 10, 1950 in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. She was the youngest of five children, also the only girl, of a marriage with Irish ancestors. Her family were avid readers, so books were always important in her life. She attended a Catholic school and credits the nuns with instilling in her a sense of discipline. During her
