This is part two of the Thug Series written by Wahida Clark. It follows the book 'Thugs and the Women who Love Them'. This is probably my favorite book out of the series. I read it in about a hour, hour and half, and loved every minute of it. It talks about everything from drugs, sex, to dealing with the loss of a love to another love. This book covers the love life of a woman and her new husband, and the start of a new love. It has drama, comedy, sadness, death, and love all wrapped into one bo ...more

Not since crack hit the streets in the 80s has there been such a huge detriment to the black community as these so-called "urban novels." I am sad and ashamed that so many people are reading these books. Not only was the book not properly proof-read, but the plot was ridiculous and the characters were extra ignorant caricatures of every black stereotype imaginable. My people, we've got to do better!

Where do I start? I didn’t read part one and went straight into this book (I didn’t know part one existed; this was my first read from this author). The flow of the book made me feeling like I was a nameless character watching my all successful girlfriends go through it with their thugs. This author filled in all the blanks without making the reader use their imagination. From cornrows to the ending jail house visits the author didn’t miss a beat. I read this book at work and was highly disappoi ...more

I re-read this book at least twice a year, so my review is very bias. I first read this book when I was 14 or 15 and it has been one of favorites ever since. I'll be the first to admit the writing or the story is nothing spectacular, but it's so fun and easy to read. At this point I can read the whole thing in 3 hours. This was also one of the first books I read where the characters sounded like and shared similar backgrounds with the people around me.

The more I read this the more I realize I d

This was a reread from over 10 years ago, and I will say, some things that I looked over the first time, absolutely stood out this time. specifically when the author wrote that the characters were going to "Rio de Janeiro, Puerto Rico"

I've always loved to read, and during the time that I first read this book, that's where I was as a reader! These types of stories were entertaining to me, this one is no different. I do applaud the author for making the female leads in her stories not only

This is the 2nd book in the Thug Series by Wahida Clark. I really did enjoy this novel almost as much as I did the first one. This was the "Raw and Uncut version so there were some things I found in the book that didn't completely add up but I won't spoil it because it might be corrected in the edited copy but overall the ending leaves you with your mouth hanging open and I can hardly wait to see what happens next! The series is raw and if you can't take a lot of intimacy and cursing this one is ...more

This was a good sequel to book 1. I enjoyed seeing how Angel and Kaylin met (my favorite couple thus far). This book centered largely around Tasha and Trae. I like Trae, but not Tasha. The constant drama she created and over reactions to situations were a bit off putting While Trae could "tame" her somewhat, I felt he must've had the patience of Job to deal with her. Her character is my least liked in this series. I'm hoping that changes, because I like Trae. Kaylin and Angel are an interesting ...more

This was horrible. I can't begin to explain all of what disgusted me. The mistakes were out of this world. The main characters name, which is all of four letters, was mispelled on the COVER, in a sentence directly underneath a sentence that had his name correctly spelled. How that happens I'll never know.
There were many, many times when I had no clue who was speaking, who they were speaking to, etc. I read paragraphs where one person was speaking and then a sentence from another person was thro

This is actually the re-release of the book with Dafina Books and I reviewed an uncorrected proof which was riddled with typographical and grammatical errors which was also a problem with the original release. I hope the finished product was thoroughly edited to correct this. The novel contained all the elements that make urban fiction so popular –thugs with money, designer clothes and jewelry and plenty of sex. What set these women apart from the normal characters in this genre is that they wer ...more

It took me a few days to get into the story. I had a bajillion (nope bajillion is not a word) things on my mind. When I was finally able to slow down and focus, it was hard for me to put the book down. I was reading and cooking, reading and watching tv, reading and trying to talk on the phone. And of course I did what we all do and fell asleep reading. I was upset at the end of the book but only because I don't like to be left hanging. Most of the time when a book is cut off and leaves me hangin ...more

Wahida Clark was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey. She decided to start writing fiction while incarcerated at a women's federal camp in Lexington, KY. Her style is street, raw, and she has an imagination that's in overdrive. When you read her novels they are so real you are convinced of one of three things: that you are inside the book, you know the characters, or you just have to meet them. ...more
