Cue your vinyl LP of Mary MacGregor, and let's sit down for a chat. I loved this book and when I say loved, I mean LOVED...all caps, underscored, roses flying in the air...you get my drift. First off, I really liked Emelie. Emelie was well-written, and easy to identify with. Secondly, JD Nelson did an outstanding job of making me love the two male characters, Soren and Kristian. Normally, that's not possible for me. I always root for one person and secretly hope the other falls off a cliff or ...more

This is a paranormal romance for adults! I picked up this book last night and just could NOT put it down!!! It's exciting, intense, adventurous, and erotic all at once! You fall in love with the characters almost instantly. I highly recommend this for any adult looking for an exciting romance with a paranormal twist :)

'I have received this book from the author in return of an honest review.'
This book was a perfect combination of reality, fantasy, humor, adventure and last but certainly not least, ROMANCE! I LOVED this book. It was one of those that you just can't put down for fear that you may miss something important, although you know its not going anywhere. The story instantly draws you into a world where elves, humans and shape-shifters abide along side one another while they are yet at war with each othe

Hm. Sometimes I wonder if I read the same book as everyone else or is my taste just that off? I did not dislike this book, far from it, but I had some issues with the writing. This book should have been perfect for me - paranormal romance is my guilty pleasure and I'm always looking for books for more mature readers - I don't really fit into the age demographic of young adult books (they tend to bore me, too).
So why do people think this book is well-writen? I guess that very much depends on you

This book blew me away. I have never been a fan of paranormal novels let alone paranormal with a dash of romance. The author totally took it to a new level for me, and I finished the book the same day that I started it. I love the characters and how the author truly brought them to life for me. I anticipated chapter after chapter and truly felt that she did an awesome job at keeping the readers interest. I would highly recommend this book to my friends! I cannot wait for the next book to come ...more

Night Aberrations is a very entertaining start to the series! Even as a male reader, the story grabbed me and didn't turn me loose until the end. This is a must read for any mature reader that likes a little fantasy with their romance.

Not recommended for younger readers due to sexual content and language.

For those of you who know me, you know that some of my favorite series are Laurell K. Hamilton’s Meredith Gentry & Anita Blake series, Larissa Ione’s Demonica Series and of course J.R Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood, all of these beloved series contain just about the same amount of language and sexual content as Night Aberrations, which is why I f

A review of JD Nelson's Night Aberrations

Firstly, the cover blew me away. It is sexy and intriguing. The blurb and title, which evokes a sense of curiosity further enticed and with that, I delved into it with eagerness.
After reading a number of YA books, though most of them were excellent, this felt like coming home. As both a reader and writer of adult romance, I do so appreciate a good one and when I'm disappointed by such a book, it momentarily leaves me numb. This book left me completed sat

This was the first book I've read about elves and was absolutely drawn into the world painted by Ms. Nelson. Emelie, born part elf, was raised in the real world until her parents' death required her to go to the elven world in order to gain strength and learn magic. Once in the elven world, Emelie learns that she cannot marry her Fated and must marry another as a result of her parents' past actions in tinkering with others' fates. Emelie finds herself drawn between two men and this affords some ...more

The Author's description of the characters, mood of the settings and simply fun sassiness at every turn paints, a perfect visual picture for me to get lost in. I read books like watching movies in my head and not every Author can create that magic for me. Night Aberrations, the first book in a new series by JD Nelson, has left me wanting more! More Emelie, more Soren (swoon) and most of all, more of the horn-dog wolf Nils!! I can't wait to see Emelie cast HIS fate! Will they all live happily ...more

I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review.

What an extraordinary story.
I loved following Emilie as she struggles to deal with the murder's of her parents. To then find out that she is betrothed to the King of the Dark Elves and the incredible journey she undertakes so that she may finally be with her "True Mate" Soren.
The journey is full of twists and surprises and at times extremely dangerous. I cannot wait to see what is next from this author!

Wow! This book was a quick and fun read for me. I found myself not only liking the attitude that Emelie has but really liking Nils as the side character.
When I first started reading this I was kind of thinking okay what is going on a bit being as Emelie loses her parents and she is just waiting to die. But it all started to make sense as to what Emelie is, and what her destiny entitles her to do. Emelie is to marry the Dark Elf King and of course sh

This was a great paranormal read. It has the paranormal, fairytale meets the dark side, and lots of hotties!!!

young woman, Emelie, (21yrs old) looses her parents, their friend, Soren, shows up to help her. She is a half elf and has no clue how to use her magic or how powerful her magic is.

This definitely deviates from normal! According to Wikipedia, an aberration is something that deviates from the normal way. This is a great story of the very different life Emelie leads after her parents are killed. Growing up Emelie knew she was different, but when 'Uncle' Soren, her father's best friend, comes to rescue her he takes her home with him and she learns how different she really is. She struggles to learn her new powers as she fights her attraction to Soren. She is fated to him, but ...more

The wide range of characters are all well developed and I was head over heels for Soren the moment I met him sitting in Emelie's living room.....of course Jakob, Viggo, Fenrir and even Kristian all have a certain appeal of their own.

I would have liked it if it was written better. It started off good. Soren's character was very appealing, but then the scenes between Soren and Emelie became increasingly awkward and choppy as the story went on. When other characters were introduced it kept getting worse and the story became far fetched.

This was my first book by JD Nelson but it wont be my last. Phenomenal story. Very well developed character. A bit of a cliff hanger at the end but the story was wrapped up at the same time. I love the paranormal romance going on. The two different loves for Emilie and her ability to figure it out with just a bit of help.

Happiness for the couple is pushed aside when she is made to marry King Kristian of the black elves. However after twists and turns true love prevails. I loved this story line and most of the characters, I wish real life was as sexy! Excellent read. WaAR
