Lawrence M. Woods' history of the Big Horn Basin to 1901 is a long overdue treatment of the generally overlooked northwestern corner of the State of Wyoming. As a native of the Big Horn Basin, I read this book with eagerness and learned a great deal about my home region.

Woods' book covers subjects ranging from the shifting of political boundaries at the national, territorial, state, county, and local levels, the contributions of foreign-born Wyomingites - including the British, French, and Volga
