In the world of the Dark-Hunters, all hell's breaking loose...

Stryker has sent word and is gathering his forces.

Well, this book has shown me that I am a fickle, fickle, sappy reader. It’s taken Stryker, a character that I have hated and wished dead through 15 books of the Dark Hunter series, and made me love him a little bit. God, I disgust myself! Regardless, I loved this book! Especially getting inside of Stryker’s head, seeing his regret at what he’s done in the past, and understanding why he is the way he is.

The book starts with Stryker unleashing an ancient God, War, to destroy his worst enemies – h

'"Swear it on your life."
His gaze hardened. "That I can never do."
She pressed the point in until it drew a bead of blood. "Why can't you?"
"Because you are my life," he said, his voice cracking. "And I can't live another day without you."'

Wow! I was a bit worried about how I'd react to Stryker's story, but I shouldn't have worried--it was just as good as the rest of the series! I love how good Kenyon is at showing both sides of a story and it was very interesting to see things from the Daimons'
Really? ...I mean REALLY? I used to love Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. Now I'm seriously wondering why. This was quite possibly the stupidest book I've ever read. A love story about the selfish bad guy (and I'm not talking about smoking-hot-bad-guy but bad guy that kills people to get what he wants and thinks the whole world is against him) and the woman he divorced a thousand or so years ago, and low and behold they still have feelings for each other. Who really cares about them? Why the heck di ...more

Alot of reviewers for One Silent Night didn't think too much of this the latest Dark Hunter novel. I personally rather enjoyed it!

In OSN, Stryker, the leader of the Daimons who have been the hated enemy of the Dark Hunters from the very beginning, gets his HEA.

Long ago Stryker had a wife. But his mercurial father, the god Apollo, decided the low born Zephrya wasn't good enough for his son. In an effort to save her life, Stryker leaves her, unbeknownst to him, pregnant with his child.

Not completely disappointed, but it’s cutting it really close!

Okay, let me begin by saying I’m a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon. I was first introduced to her Dark-Hunter series with Seize the Night, loved it, went back and got the rest of the series and have been following it ever since. Let me continue that by saying: although the story and plot was good, I was disappointed and found the book overpriced.

I paid $8.09 CND for OSN - I have an iRewards card through Chapters. I felt like I was cheate
I am so disappointed with this book! I don't think I've ever given a Sherrilyn Kenyon book only 2 stars! Both main characters were entirely too harsh and mean for my tastes! While I usually love some good tortured souls and a long road to fulfillment and HEA, I don't particularly like it when the women are known for their brutality and cruelty and have slaves that they beat! Jeez! I was like, ok, at some point something is going to happen to make me love both of these characters... nope. That ne ...more

Okay. I needed some time to think today before I added a comment about this book.

First, I must say I love Kenyon and even though my rating was low by my standard, I am still an avid fan.

This seemed to be another filler/change of direction book. I can see how some people would be overwhelmed with all the different species if they haven't read all the previous books. Everyone's stories were going back and forth and back and forth...

I want to say that I would have loved a longer story on Stryker.
You know there's something wrong with the author when the GOOD GUYS and the BAD GUYS have their own books

I know, as a reader, that we have to see things from both side of the "war" but I can't help disliking a author who tries to make us sympathize with EVERY SINGLE BAD GUY there is in her damn book. I want to know who to dislike and I don't give a damn about their happy ending!!!

I don't like Stryker and that b***h wife of his. They all need to be kill off somewhere and take Nick with them.

The gods must be crazy. I know I am. Why did I give this absurd series another try??? I wanted to know how things would go for Acheron and Tory and Nick. Ok. So one star for that. The rest of this book is a big goose egg. Stryker and Zephyr are not worthy of an epic love story. They. Are. Evil. He killed his own son and plotted to destroy mankind. She tortured Jared for millennia. Still does. Lock the psychos away...

Kenyon's plots are full of holes. Her characters are yo-yos. And her writing sty
I wanted to like this book so much !
No offense to those of you who liked the book or to SK herself, I just didn't like it at all.

It's way too full of characters and character types/species. Greek, Sumerian, Egyptian (and maybe more?) Pantheon's were all represented.

I counted over 80 characters and character type/species!
Seriously, want the list?
That's in a 300 page book with a large font no less.

Stryker's character was much better developed than Zephyra's I guess because his backstory is men

Really 3.5 stars -

I was really anticipating this book, since I just finished Acheron not long ago. However, I was kind of disappointed.

I didn't expect to like Stryker, but I did come around as I read on. I suppose he really does have a heart. It is hard to have sympathy for Ash and Dark-Hunters' enemy.

His ex-wife, Zephyra, shows up here. She is a mean, hateful, shrew, and I just couldn't like her. They were married eleven thousand years ago when they were children of 14. I was a little uncomfo
This was a considerably shorter book than some of the others in the series, but I loved it because it provided so much insight into many of the characters. We got to see that not everything is either good or evil, but that so many of the characters are a mix of the two. I couldn't help but feel bad for Stryker, especially when you realize how much he has lost. The revelations about Nick made me like his character even more, despite him being all pissy at Acheron. And for some strange reason, I h ...more
First of all I do not get why some did not like this book. In my opinion it was awesome. It was great to be able to see things from another point of view. To understand the apollites better.

Stryker and Zephyra were a great couple, I loved the chemestry between them, and the fact that even though when they were fighting you knew they did not mean it. You could see the love they had for each other very clear.

I love boys with the worst bad ass attitude, except when it comes to their girls.

I did not
Ok, I am glad I read this book simply because it introduced some new character I might need to know for future books. However, I didn't really like it. I grew to like Styker, but never Zephyra. Just didn't like her, at all.

The 3 stars are simply because of a leftover Acheron high.

The last full-length, Christmas-themed book in the Dark-Hunter series was just OK for me, and perhaps for that reason, I went into reading One Silent Night with low expectations. The fact that Stryker had been an antagonist in several past Dark-Hunter books and my uncertainty about him being the hero of his own story only added to my lack of anticipation. Well, maybe that was a good thing, because I ended up finding this book to be pretty entertaining. Admittedly, the myt

5/11 - I did not like this book, the plot was not interesting and neither was the romance aspect. I'm glad this wasn't the first Kenyon book I read as I might not have read and others and all the others are a lot more enjoyable and engaging.

*Update* I wrote this five years ago before I started thinking seriously about what I was writing. I'm sorry for the complete lack of detail regarding what was wrong with it and now I can't remember a single detail of the story or even my feelings on it. I ma
One Silent Night is the absolutely worst in book in the whole Dark Hunter series and such a disappointment.

Since the beginning I liked Stryker, but his book was a let down. He deserved so much better than this.
OSN plays after the final fight in Acheron, before Ash & Tory’s wedding.

Stryker is obsessed with his vengeance against Acheron and Nick. He decided to awake the Machae. The Machae – War, Ker and Mache – are invincible warriors, created from the gods to defeat the Chthonians. Stryker

First of all I MUST comment about the number of pages this book has. 166 – magic number. Cmon Stryker should get more than that! Make it a short story then if you’re out of ideas. What should I call this? Medium story? Sounds like crap. I don’t like medium stuff. I either like it huge, long or short. And for all you pervs out there STFU!!

I have to tell you from now that I won’t be giving this a good score. I am so damn disappointed in Stryker because I was expecting his story to be more wild, d

A lot of people on goodreads seem to dislike it, but I genuinely like it.

I don’t like either Stryker or Zephyra, who are both largely remorseless psychos, but I am not sure we are supposed to - I actually love that Kenyon took the bad guy and antagonist for the series, gave him his own book and romance, and did not soften his edges or turn him woobie or reveal that all is not as it seems (I love when that is done well - see Styxx, but it’s certainly unusual to keep a bad guy a bad guy). The first surprise of this book was that I could actually feel any empathy whatsoever for Stryker, whom I have felt had no redeeming qualities at all. Throughout this entire series, Stryker has been a royal pain in my reading pleasure and I'm sure all of the Dark-Hunters would agree.

Readers are given a front row seat into the life of Stryker and the woman he loved and eventually betrayed. Though I cannot approve of what Stryker and his Daimons do, I now have a better understanding of what compel

How is it that Kenyon actually had me cheering for the bad guy, Strykerius, and hoping he would find love, when I have hated that man since book #1 of this series. I wasn't even thinking I would like this book, let alone not be able to put it down. Very good story and there is a series change about to take place in the world of the Daimons. This is a must read for all Dark Hunter fans.

Stryker unleashes an evil being and sends him to destroy Ash and Nick. That being then turns on Stryker causing
