A cunning killer hides in plain sight.
A troubled teenage girl has been charged with the grisly murder of her stepfather. The evidence is damning: Emily was found alone at the scene with blood on her hands, and an incriminating e-mail she wrote outlines a murder plot identical to the method of the brutal slaying. Very good! Even though this is a 2nd book in the series, it really does very well as a standalone. Young 16 year old Emily is about to be accused of horribly mutilating her step-father. After all her prints were on the scene and his blood was in her room.
Now the race begins for deputy district attorney, Julia Chandler to prove that her niece didn't commit this heinous crime. She enlist the aid of unwilling PI, Connor Kincade. 5 years ago she forced Connor, who at the time was a cop, t...more

This is the second book in Allison Brennan’s Evil Trilogy. This series circles around the Kincaid family. In this book the hero is Connor Kincaid and the heroine Julia Chandler. They have a past, but when Julia’s niece Emily is accused of murdering her stepfather, Julia vows to protect her. With the aid of Connor and his brother Dillon, she starts an parallel investigation. Soon, they are are starting to unravel an chilling web of murders. For me, the most chilling part was the age of the mu...more
What I really liked about this book was that the crime portion seemed like it was an easy one, pretty cut and dry, however as the story progressed you realize just how complex it was. Just when you thought you had all the players figured out, there would be another curve ball causing you to reassess.
I also really like the large Kincaid family and how just like in the previous book there is a lot of them in the story. Sometimes they work well together, sometimes not. Because let's ...more

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. The plot sounded interesting & I liked the premise. My only problem? The writing just didn't live up to the storyline.
The story surrounds a beautiful DA Julia who must prove her niece's innocence after her stepfather is found horribly murdered in his study. A stepfather whom the niece was being molested by & had plenty of motive to kill. There to help is a figure from Julia's past who holds a grudge and a lot of lust against her, Co...more

This was the second book of the Evil Trilogy by Allison Brennan. There are a few references to people, situations from the first book Speak No Evil, but you really don’t have to read them in order. Once again the chief investigators are the Kincaid brothers and amongst the killings there is lust and romance.

The second book in the "Evil" trilogy. A prominant judge is found killed--exactly like a poster who is part of the annoymous "Wishlist" therapy program writes it.
Julia, an attorney, has to call in Connor Kincaid, a former friend turned PI to help when her niece is arrested for the judge's murder. As they look Emily's past, they learn that even pillars of the community have secrets.
They begin linking other cases together, using "Wishlist" as a jumping off point.

This book is thrilling and full of twists.
The book starts of with Emily Chandler Montgomety remembering a session with her therapist. She has an abusive step father and a mother who doesn't care about her. She notices something is off because her step father hasn't called her in to his office, she takes this chance to sneak up into her room from the garage. She drinks alcohol until she is runk and passes out. She wakes up in a hospital bed and finds out that her stepfather has been k...more

This is the first Allison Brennan book that I have read. This story is a mystery romance. It is pretty well paced though I was initially confused by the number of characters in the story. It took me a while to figure out who was whom and why they were there. I did catch on after a few chapters though and the story was intriguing enough to keep me turning the page until I figured it out.

This book is only one of the series of Allison Brennan. Imagine yourself being accused of a crime you didn't even do. Well thats what this book is like. A teenage girl being accused of murdering a judge.I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys mysteries. It was kind of confusing in the beggining because it started out like in the middle of the book, then it want back to the beginning. I like that format because it makes you wonder what happened in the beginning. This makes this book more...more
When Judge Victor Montgomery is murdered in a particularly gruesome way (think severed body part) the police suspect his seventeen-year-old stepdaughter, Emily. After all, blood was found in her bedroom and she apparently tried to kill herself with booze and pills. But Deputy District Attorney Julia Chandler doesn’t believe her troubled niece would commit such a violent act. To prove Emily’s innocence, she recruits PI Connor Kincaid who’d helped find Emily when she ran away from home three years...more

Imagine being accused for a crime that you didn’t commit. A crime so violent and disgusting, it made you feel sick to your stomach. That’s what’s happened to Emily Chandler. She is being accused of a murder that she did not do. All the evidence points to her, plus the fact that she has motive makes her all the guiltier.

As part of the trilogy, it was a perfect second book.
The characters are genuine, and all their emotions, no matter how bottled up, you feel them. The way Brennan puts you in the mind of the killer has its own creepy effect, and it works well. The action is suspenseful, the plot works out very well. That's twice now where I thought I knew 'whodunnit', but ended up wrong - way wrong - twice, LOL!

Not reading the first book in this series didn't hamper my understanding of this novel. I enjoyed the suspense. There was a nice build up as to who "He"was....then a tres anti climatic end, where they sorta stumbled onto him, didn't really figure it out then, only to have his "power" taken away because he was the one being played! Then he is killed!
It ruined it for me. :(

Intense murder mystery with romance thrown in . . . nice break from the real life. Everything was solved at the end and the main characters fell in love. Brennan does a great job of creating characters that interest you and a chilling murder plot. I will probably be reading the third book in the series soon.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was very well thought out and planned. I liked that she put in numerous twists and turns. It was a new concept of murder that I hadn't read before. It kept me interested in what was going on and thinking about who was really behind it all. I enjoyed the Kincaid family and Julia's interactions. I loved how it showed them working through things and what they were thinking. It was interesting to see how they handled the police with Emily and her mental state...more
This is the second book in the second trilogy written by Allison Brennan.
Well, I didn't like this one as much as the previous four books of hers that I have read. I know that it is romantic suspense, but there was so much more romance focused on this one than in the others, and the sex scenes were a bit full on for my liking. This is a suspense book! There was one part where I skipped about six pages as it was entirely about sex!

Two years ago, I read the first book in the No Evil Trilogy. In the second book, get prepared to be chilled in this romantic suspense. Julia Chandler's niece is accused of murder. She needs Connor Kincaid, to help find out who framed Emily, while they had a past--she ruined his career, five years ago. They find out what's really going behind this murder and more, past and present, when they link the connection of Wishlist, an egroup for anger management, and their fantasies come alive. The close...more

Brennan is among the best when it comes to murder! See No Evil hooked me from the first page. It was chilling and suspenseful....will keep you up late.
Good book. I figured out half of what was going on by the time I was 3/4 of the way through though. But all together a good series. I'm looking forward to the next book. I'd recommend.
While I didn't enjoy Connor and Julia as much as Carina & Nick this book was just as good. Fulls of thrills and chills. A recommend for sure!
This is the first book I read by this author and LOVED IT! Had me right from the beginning. Quick read and held my interest till the end.
enjoy this book as much as I did: mystery, danger, romance..good people win, bad ones lose.
Mystery's are not my favorite, but this one has enough romance to make it interesting.
I stumbled upon this author purely by accident and I am hooked. This is the second book of hers that I have read and I purchased two others this weekend.
I thought it was too much like the first one.
Ok. Not bad. Might keep reading more of Brennan.
nice...entranced psychotically
Another great read.
Enjoyed it!
Can't remember reading it before, I think I did.
No I did not, nice thriller. Easy to read.
