Somewhere beyond the circle of money, glitz, drugs, and controversy that characterizes professional sports in America, remnants of an ideal exist. In Iowa, that ideal survives in the form of high school wrestling.

Each a three-time state champion, Jay Borschel and Dan LeClere have a chance in their senior year to join the sport's most elite group: the "four-timers,"

Kreidler tells the story of Jay Borschel and Dan LeClere, two wrestlers on the verge of becoming 4-time Iowa state wrestling champions. I actually wrestled with another 4-timer (Jeff McGinness, later also a Hawkeye), and so a lot of the details of the wrestling room, matches, and mindset that Kreidler tries to get across were instantly familiar to me. Dan LeClere just working on a takedown until he thinks it's perfect, then pinning his opponent, both Jay and Dan putting themselves in a different...more

I like how the author made this book based on Iowa high schools. This book is about a teenager, Jay Borschel, who is in wrestling and goes to a school in Iowa. He's so good that all the coaches of the other teams forfeit when one of his kids has to wrestle Jay. He has won three state championships and he's trying to get his fourth. Dan LeClere is the only thing in his way, he is also going for his fourth state championship. Jay, his coach and father start getting mad because he never gets t...more

I just got done reading Four Days To Glory and it is about two Iowa Wrestlers who came from a family who loved wrestling. Jay Borschel is one of the main characters in this book. He came from Linn-Mar Iowa and all his life he wrestled. He was the best wrestler that came from Linn-Mar and he had went to state all four years. The other character is Dan LeClere. He is from a town that only had a population of 710. And he was also trying to become a four timer.
The book tells about how you shou...more

This book is about wrestling. The main point is that you only have a short time to make thing happened to give it all you have. These two wrestler were about Jay Borshel and Dan LeClere from Iowa look from their high school careers. Both of them won 4 times high school stte wrestling champs. Both them went to Vigiania Tech with others until Tom Brands came back to Iowa Hawkesyes for the head wrestling coach. After he move to Iowa so did both of them came back to Iowa. Today one of these guys has...more

First, I have to admit that I might be a little too randomly related to events in this book to be a fair and unbiased reviewer.

The book chronicles the attempt of two high school wrestlers to become the 15th and 16th four time Iowa State Champions during the winter of 2005. My brother's team wrestled in several tournaments with Dan LeClere's North Linn Lynx that year. It was so weird seeing one of my brother's teammates mentioned when he faced Dan, and I was actually at the Tournament...more

I thought this book was very good. I don't read books very often but I don't mind reading sports books. I like how Jay Borschel and Dan LeClere were both going for their fourth state championship in wrestling, it adds intensity to the story. Nobody would wrestle Jay because he was so big and strong. I think that they should have to wrestle unless they're ill or for some other good enough reason. Jay ends up winning his fourth state championship which is what I wanted to happen because it ma...more

I enjoyed the insight into 2 of Iowa's best State high school wrestlers. Didn't hurt that both of them were transferring back to the University of Iowa...I recommend this book.

Recommends it for: wrestling fans from small town Iowa.
This book chronicles the lives of two Iowa high school wrestlers as they make their way to being four-time state champions (something only 14 other people have done in the 87 year history of the Iowa state wrestling program). I only picked up this book because one of the featured wrestlers grew up in my hometown. I found the book interesting because I know the family, I know the wresting program, and I understand what a "big" thing wrestling is for Iowans. But for those things, I wo...more

I checked this out for John, since it's about wrestling and Iowa, two of his interests. I didn't have many other books to read at the time, since I ended up carrying it around with me for a few weeks. It follows two high school wrestlers in Iowa and paints a picture of the pressures they face as they attempt to become four-time state champions in wrestling. It's interesting because wrestling is not a prestigious sport anymore, and it's definitely not where the money is, but there is still a cult...more

I discovered this book at random while passing through the sports section of a local bookstore. I did not know what to expect when I began reading it, however, I was not disappointed. While it was difficult at times to keep track of which wrestler the author was discussing (he details two in particular but also discusses others) I found the book very interesting and highly engaging. I had no idea of the heavy physical and emotional price that successful wrestlers have to pay.

Wrestling is one of the most difficult sports out there. However there is one place in the world where wrestling is life and that one place is Iowa. This is a story about two high school wreslters who are trying to win their fourth consecutive high school wrestling championships. This book was a great motivation for me and it pushes me to work harder in wrestling and just in life in general. Overall the book was pretty good to read.

It was very good as far i got into it. I really liked how it was based on a true story that took place in Iowa. Its about a high school athlete. Trying to be a four time state champ. Which he says is to make you know all over. In which he wants to be know. I really like this book as far as i got into it.

Recommends it for: wrestlers
I was a wrestler in high school for a couple years and was able to identify with the journey of the young wrestlers in this book. I'm not sure anyone that doesn't understand wrestling would appreciate this book, but I was captivated throughout, especially when I found out it was non-fiction.

Follow 4 guys for their senior year of wrestling in Iowa. Life in the midwest revolves around this sport. The author captures it very well.
