Written by a doctor who lives near the site of the Battle of Little Bighorn, this book follows the amateur historian's argument that many of the soldiers may have committed suicide because of an overwhelming terror of being captured and tortured by the Indians. The more one delves into the study of history (or any academic discipline, I am sure), the more one discovers that numerous factions exist, each attempting to preserve the "correct" view of historical events -- even if it means the accidental or intentional misrepresentation of facts.

I think this book would work better as a classroom lecture-or maybe if it came with a topo map and little plastic soldiers to move around! But the premise is very interesting...
