Peter Conners, the author of a previous collection of poems and a forthcoming memoir about following the Grateful Dead, Growing Up Dead, recently published Emily Ate The Wind, a novella of extravagantly tiny miniatures. I like the concept of a collection of interconnected flash-fictions, and many of these are short-shorts are strong (no doubt Conners is a solid writer), but enough of them leave me feeling like anecdotes of these characters' lives as opposed to stories, so that I'm left with a feeling of "so what?" at some endings. Strong prose, good writing, but I'd like more meat on the bone.
