Much too short! Great drawing. The pictures are the end are great and the pictures, really portraits, at the beginning of each episode are incredible. It as great to see Faith and Giles and their dark sides. Willow's fantasy woman is hilarious, literally, and so Joss. The rest was just ok.

I always really liked Faith and also I like a lot of the BKV stuff I've read, so, I had plenty of pro-bias on this book. To be honest though, the best part was not Faith! It was Giles, for sure. I think I have been waiting for him to really find his niche since I don't know season 6, and I think this arc treated him properly. I like Giles best when his dark past is invoked, and I think that this combined with Ethan's role in the last trade is good news all around.

Also, as in the last...more

I don't envy anyone having to follow up Whedon's arc -- not only was it a good story, but you're being compared to Whedon writing Buffy. Its like being asked to sing James Brown at karaoke, only to find out that James Brown was going to be at the party too. Unfortunately, this is sort of what Vaughn tries to do -- a karaoke of Whedon, at times trying so hard to hit the witty-banter dialogue that is Buffy's hallmark that it comes across as more Whedon than Whedon, borderline parody. Still bett...more

Fans of the popular Buffy the Vampire Slayer show were crushed when the series was canceled after the seventh season. Joss Whedon, the series' creator and writer of a number of popular comic books, decided that he would move on with the story by presenting an eighth season in a graphic novel format. This is the second volume of the series, which presents what would be considered a second episode.

Fans will be thrilled to see that the rebellious slayer Faith comes to the fore in this...more

This Faith arc is one of the best storylines the Buffy-verse has had ever.

It brings all of the trademark Whedon humor and angst, and then nestles that brilliantly in Faith's ongoing tension between her quest-for-redemption and her darker leanings: her feelings of resentment and betrayal at Buffy war beautifully with her genuine friendship to the Big Bad once again, and Faith's undercover mission makes everything delightfully complicated.

Favorite part of season 8 so far!

Faith has always been the most tragic figure. Apart from the art inserts (original covers?), which are very beautiful and true to the actors, she doesn't look right, but the men do. At least the old ones, they gave Xander a super body that he still hides from B (explanation in next book). The clichés are British, the continent stuck in a time warp in Whedon(?)s imagination, with a few modern ones like Ten/Rose, but also Steed/Peel and (hee) Daniel Craig. While I'm a big Vaughan fan, I probably ...more

I enjoyed this even more than volume 1. The Faith story had some emotional moments that really resonated (courtesy the excellent Brian K. Vaughn) and the single Joss Whedon issue was really good too. I like the way this series is set up... different writers on 4 issue arcs interspersed with Whedon one-shot “episodes”... really feels like the way the TV show was produced.

The four issue arcs (opposed to the “Marvel 6”) also make each chapter in the larger stories meatier, while...more

More great stuff as Dawn is still a giant, more plots abound, and Faith and Giles bond over being outside of Buffy's circle/influence. The skinless guy is a little much (and Joss claims he forgot he'd died so bringing him back had no explanation), but, overall, if you liked Buffy already you will like these.
In my review of the first collection, I said the above, but I should also add: even if you've never heard of Buffy but you like well-done comics, then check these out. You'll ...more

The thing I love about this comic is that not only is it written just as well as the show but they do something they could never do in the show, make Eliza Dushku British. She could have never pulled it off, lets face it, great Faith, bad actress (Dollhouse, hello!). Also I love the tip of the hat having the Doctor and Rose in there! Minor issue with Zander having a Sunnydale Swim Team Shirt...and how did that survive the whole outtie becoming innie? (It happens a few other times as well with Su...more

Thusfar, I'm really digging the idea of having a graphic novel follow-up to ended television shows. The artists stay true to the likenesses of the actors, and with Joss Whedon on board, the stories at definitely conceivable happenings withing the Buffyverse.

The second volume follows Faith, resident bad-girl slayer, as she sets out to stop a new powerful slayer, Gigi, who could potentially kill Buffy and send things into a tailspin for everyone.

It wasn't as good as volume...more

It is very exciting that the second Volume of the season 8 saga has to deal with a rogue Slayer who wants to kill Buffy. Faith is used (literally) to dispatch this Slayer, but they realize in the end that Faith and now Giles are basically outcasts.

I liked the Faith story a lot. I thelped getting to know her as she had to deal with another Rogue slayer. She understood herself and yet again realized everything is about Buffy in the end. You finally felt sorry for her and perhaps hated B...more

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, Volume 2: No Future For You by Joss Whedon, Brian K. Vaughan, and Georges Jeanty: Buffy and Joss Whedon fans were delighted to discover that there would be a graphic novel version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, continuing on from the end of the show. But fans also know there are two true slayers currently alive in the Buffyverse, and in No Future For You, with help from writer Brian K. Vaughan (of Y: The Last Man) we get the story on what the other slayer has be...more

see, now we're getting closer to the feeling of the old buffy storylines that i loved. plus, faith was heavily featured in this volume (i've always had a soft spot for faith. i mean, she's a foul mouthed brunette with an affiinity for leather pants, how could i not love her? even if she has murdered people on occassion), which was great. she still has all her pain and insecurity that buffy herself has apparently overcome (or is at least hiding much better than she used to). and with her and gile...more

The second volume of Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight comic collects # 6–10 of the title and, just like its predecessor, it offers the reader a four issue story arc and a single issue story.

Unlike the previous volume where Whedon was a the helm fully throughout, the four issue arc in this volume, the title piece "No Future for You", is not written by Whedon but by Brian K. Vaughan. This did have me slightly worried, to be frank, because while I have lately h...more

** spoiler alert ** Well it was bound to be inferior to the first. It wasn't written by the great Whedon and the arc barely connected to the first. I don't usually mind fillers but when you have to wait four months for it to be over...that's just ridiculous.
Anyway, the whole thing with Faith completely undermined her personal growth in Buffy and Angel. Relapsing doesn't fit with her character in the slightest, she has learned to channel her rage against other things. Another weakness was ...more

This second volume is even better than the first, mostly because this was such a great storyline. The writing continues to be awesome, and the artwork (which was not my favorite at first) really grew on me.

I can't recommend the comics enough for anyone who is a fan of Buffy... especially in this second volume, the characters are completely alive and everything awesome about them and their development/relationships is still there.

While the art is still patchy, and I am not sure that the graphic novel format is the best venue for the material, this volume was a lot better than the first. There was some character driven storyline, Dawn's problem finally seems relevant, Xander stops seeming so weird and like he is being shipped with Buffy for the most part, and of course there is the fact that it includes a lot of not only Giles but my favorite, the one and only Faith. Both Giles and Faith are used to good effect and rema...more
