Very good teen fiction, with an interesting mix of family drama and scary thug thriller. Great characters, with all the details of school friendships and family dynamics done right. I loved how smart and tough Clara was. She didn't try to be friends with Gerri anymore after the mocking phone call, she stood up for herself when she was alone with Eddie, the tough guy, and later at the big climax, even when she was paralyzed with fear, she kept thinking instead of giving up. I wish Amos, her count More...

Reading this one as a possible choice for a friend's teen reading festival, but it fell short. Good insight into teen angst, at least as far as a 57 year old who has raised two can tell. Gets a little over-complicated, but the authors can see the good in all their characters, or at least the reasons for their behavior. This is more than most teens can! The two main characters are attractive and have life issues that increase their attraction to one another (and their constant tendency toward More...

I found this at a discount book store and picked it up because of the cover. I was surprised to find that I really liked this book. But, I read it so long ago that I can't remember what I like about it.

Some kids might like the two points-of-view--one a guy's, one a girl's--but some might have preferred just one POV in a shorter book. Does help to have rare guy's POV of romance.

I liked it, but not as much as Crushed. The McNeals seem to have a formula: sweet-but-not-hip-main character, misunderstood boy, thugs, betrayal, missing parents.

Um, I read this book twice because I didn't remember reading it the first time. I read it the entire way through without realizing I'd read it before.

This was a summer reading book I had in high school. Once again the mindset is different and it has changed because it is not being read for pleasure. The teen life is always changing, and this novel was specially selected because of the age I was. Reading novels that relate to your age, and or problems can help with the flow of ideas. This novel didn't relate to my life but being of the same age as the characters, one thinks how they would react in a similar situation. This book helped me becom More...

Okay, so I just have to talk about this book, because it was interesting. It was somewhat random, and sort of freaky and I was reading it late at night, which probably wasn't the best idea. Anyway, it was a pretty good book, but the Tripp brothers just ruined it for me. It was sad enough, and then there was the whole freaky thing with them. It was just dumb, I hate characters like that. So I liked it, but it would probably never be on my "books to re-read" list. I dunno...

I Really liked it this book, with the Different POV you got see what they each felt for each other. it was very deep and at some points dark. and the trip bothers are so disturbing that its hard to not want to know what they will come up with next.
I also think it was interesting how both the authors worked together really well (must be why their married ><)

I really can't give a complete answer on how good this book was because I read it along time ago. But all I remember is that it was actually a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice simple book for the summer they don't have to keep tabs on. XD

I remember LOVING this book and trying to get my best friend to love it too. But aside from that all I remember are the names Amos and Clara, thinking Amos was really sweet, and some lethal shit goin' down in an attic.

Maybe even a four-star. This kind-of-depressing YA novel covers bullying and the world of "adult human beings" as viewed from the teen perspective. I liked it, but I didn't love it.

Lovely, funny book about 2 teenagers trying to find a place in which they belong in life. A little mystery and suspense building up to a climactic ending make it a page turner as well.

Very nice, straightforward book dealing with teenage angst that seems unlikely but is quite entertaining. The joy I derive from it is on par with Twilight, but without the vampires.

i'm not really sure it matched up to well with the summary.
it mainly seemed like a string of events that didnt flow together that well.
the problems seemed a bit out of the book's world.

Probably closer to 4 and 1/2 stars. This is my favorite of the Mcneals' books by far; suspenseful and quirky—and told in alternating voices that complement each other beautifully.
