His Princess was a little bit eclectic, a lot of eccentric, and a big time potty mouth. She was outgoing and loud, but held her friends and family close to her heart. She ranted about everything wrong in the world, yet her wild passion made him fall hard and fast. Life gave him the middle finger when she opened his eyes to the beauty around him—and right in front of him.
Her Prick-a-Doodle-Do was an uptight businessman through and through. He never saw the fun in anything and she knew right from the start she could have fun with this man and get him to see things differently. He made her see she didn’t have to always be alone, even when surrounded by people. A knack of bringing out the best in her made her fall for him, even if she didn’t want to admit it to herself.
Both were raised in ‘high society’, but where one was guided by the rules, the other had fun going against them. Though he was her new boss, she didn’t give two hoots about it so when she was given an opportunity to express her views about a certain subject, she readily agreed.
It’s now her personal mission to make Bossman’s life a little harder, while experiencing a little fun along the way, of course.
Because . . . if it’s a pain in the ass, then you’re doing it wrong.
J.C. Clarke lives in the heart of the New Forest in England with her husband and four children. Never a dull moment, her full house provides no shortage of inspiration which fuels her writing. She loves reading and writing a variety of genres in addition to dabbling with graphic art to create book covers, swag and more.

This is a book that I read in it’s very early beginnings. This end product is quite a bit different from how it was, and is the perfect showcase for Clarke’s sarcasm and, let’s be honest, weird sense of humour.
As an author and a reviewer, the blog posts were quite possibly my favourite bit of this book. Niamh writing about everything she hates about books of a certain genre made me cry laughing. I have whinged and moaned about many of those very things on many an occasion, but to see it there in black and white makes it all the more irritating and real.
Niamh (Princess) has a very distinctive voice, both i her blog posts and the story that runs alongside them, especially when she has the devil in her (I actually read that whenever it was stated in my Granny’s voice. It’s something she said, a lot).
While she’s an American character, she sounds British now and then, which is understandable due to her love and addiction of British TV. I loved her close, and sometimes embarrassing, relationship with both of her parents, and the way she says what she ‘s thinking – even if it’s not always the best thing to do.
She loves to have fun and doesn’t let her work encroach on that. When we first meet her, she’s not enjoying her job, and makes the most of her days at the office, usually by winding up the older ladies that work with her (I’ve worked with women like that and have often been tempted to do the same).
Dylan on the other hand is much more focussed when it comes to work. He’s determined to make the magazine the best it can be. At first, he comes across as a little awkward – he likes the ladies, but can get flustered now and then, especially when faced with someone as forthright as Niamh.
Their first meeting is hilarious, and pretty much comedy genius – afterall, a faceful of boobs in the dark – who wouldn’t want that?
The split POV of the book is really well done, and gives us a good insight into both of the characters and how they feel about each other and the situations they’re placed in.
The only issue I had with the book is the cliffhanger at the end. I know Clarke has given us a teaser of the next book, but I’ve been left wanting more, and NOW!
If you’re after an easy read that will make you smile and laugh, this is the book for you!!
I was provided with a Review Copy/ARC for review. I'm having a heck of a time trying to come up with how to write a review for this book! I really enjoyed it, but it's difficult to review a book that revolves around the aspect of reviewing books! That sounds weird, but once you read it, you'll totally understand what I'm saying.
Firstly, whatever you're thinking this book may be about after just reading the title, stop. It's not! I was actually confused in the beginning because I hadn't actually read the blurb prior to starting the book (or I had and forgotten between the time I signed up to review and actually started reading). It all made sense rather quickly though. So, no harm, no foul.
The writing in this book was great! In fact, I've never read anything quite like it before and that's a huge plus! The characters were laugh-out-loud-funny too! I'm pretty sure this one will stay with me for a while.
I'm going to wrap this up here so as not to reveal any spoilers or give anything away. You just have to experience the book yourself! It's a must! Particularly if you might be a bit bored with the same ol', same ol' of today's run of the mill romance books. Pick it up! It's definitely worth taking a chance on!
OMG I was not expecting this book at all! It was non-stop hilarious. I simply loved it!
His Princess was eclectic, eccentric, and a huge potty mouth. She was loud and passionate! Her love for her family and friends was amazing. Her Prick-a-Doodle-Do was an uptight businessman. He made her see that she didn't have to be alone. Although both were high society, their outlooks were completely opposite.
This is a hard review to write because you must experience this book for yourself to understand how awesome it is. The writing was great, characters were fantastic, and I laughed like a crazy woman all through the book. It's an original romance that you must pick up. I CANNOT WAIT for the next book, and highly recommend you take a chance and read it.
**Book provided by the author for an honest review**
This is a story about Niamh Marshall. A 20-year-old single lady living in her dead grandmother's house with Mac, her massive dog. Niamh is a very, "let her freak flag fly high" kinda girl and does what she pleases regardless of what society thinks. She is very close to her parents Sara and Robert, and her somewhat tolerable 15 year old brother Liam. Niamh works for a small magazine, as the gopher essentially. Her co-wokers hate her, and her boss Henry adores her. All is semi-quazi-okay in her world until Henry decides to retire and sell the business. The new owner is sending his son in to boss them around and who knows what else, maybe even release the staff of their duties. When Dylan Rowe first meets Niamh, he runs face first into her cleavage! The situation couldn't have been more intimate or humiliating than that!
Niamh's story was a breathtaking change of pace from your typical romance novel! I loved her brutal honesty when it came to the weird stuff they say in romance novels, and her unique outlook on life. Niamh wasn't looking for love, and she certainly wasn't the kind of person that was a total girly-girl about men, sex, or love, so when she starts falling for Dylan, she makes they typical kindergartener move and pisses him off on purpose every chance she gets! That's basically the equivalent of hitting him or telling him he's stupid in 5-year-old mentality.
Dylan's character was pretty "average guyish". His family had money, a certain social standing, and he also still lived with them! Yikes! His mother was way bossy and obnoxious, so when she met Niamh, it was just awesome with sugar and a cherry on top! I had a lot of fun with the scenarios Niamh conjured up in her head, and the one inner dialogue she had about Dylan that had me busting a gut and thinking of my friend Cheyenne was, Dylan was jogging to work and Niamh spotted him and thought, "Did his junk bob or swing when he ran?" The two knuckleheads liked each other, but neither one would stand for "being nice" to each other, so they kept going in this circle of hating on each other every chance they had...some people's kids.
After Dylan has the building renovated, and gives Niamh an actual writing position on the magazine, things roll in a very good way for Niamh. The one thing that boggled the mind was, is she ready for all this? Niamh was pretty adamant about not doing social media, and not sleeping with Dylan, but things happened and she wasn't ready for it. Now the book ends in such a manner to have me screaming WTF, I just don't know...Niamh's story really hit home with me. She is an adult, but just barely, and now all this new stuff, these changes so quickly, and out of her comfort zone, is it good for her or will it cause a mental or emotional breakdown for her? I know this was supposed to be a romantic comedy, but it turned into something deeper than that for me, either way I loved it! The story had a very nice flow, and the characters were great! I don't believe I've ever read a book this fast before. I was totally enthralled! Book two better be coming soon because what an ending!
Holy Shit. Seriously. This is my first foray with the incredible JC Clarke and I am so sad that I haven't been along for the ride sooner! This book is full of sarcasm, wit and all those things that you wish you could say but never do. J.C. Clarke NAILS the voice of Princess and OMG Prick-a-Doodle-Doo is hilarious. He never seems to know what to say but then something will come flying out that just nails Princess to a wall. It's amazeballs.
This wasn't the book I was expecting but it was definitely the book I needed. It points out all the things that I hated without knowing I hated in romance and erotic novels. Princess is the girl we all are inside and Prick is The Man - the one we love to hate.
Easily one of my favorite books. I'm so incredibly excited for the next book in the series!

If you are looking for something that is not your normal read then this is the book for you. JC Clarke filled this book full of sarcasm, wit and all the things I would like to say. I think there is a little bite of Princess in all of us. I am so glad I took and chance at this book. Cant wait to read more from this author!!!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. what a wonderful breath of fresh air! I not only enjoyed this book, I almost completely agree with all the extras. I definitely recommend this book to any and everyone. It actually had me laughing on several occasions. "Prick-a-Doodle do"? Love it.
This book really tested my bladders abillity to keep me from peeing myself! I laughed and smiled so much reading it my husband even asked me what I was reading. Neeve's look on the world is truly refreshing and hilarious and the story line that goes with it and makes her end up with Prick a Doodle Do is what keeps you hooked!
Wow... What can I say JC Clarke absolutely swept me off of my feet. This was the first book that I have had the privilege of reading by JC Clarke and I have to say that I am actually incredibly disappointed that I had not been introduced to this mastermind of an author much sooner. I had the utmost pleasure of reading If It's A Pain In The Ass Then Your Doing It Wrong. I have to say this was the most refreshing book that I have read in quite some time it was so different from what you see in most books today and I loved every single word. JC Clarke was witty and funny and honestly I laughed my ass off the entire time, I swear I was laughing so hard I felt like and old lady that had given birth too so many children that she had lost control of her bodily functions and needed to wear depends, and I happily would have sported them for the duration of this novel!
This was such a great change from the norm of a romance novel I found that I read through it at an alarming pace and was so sad that it ended and had to open the book up and read it all over again because I honestly could not get enough of it and the banter between the main characters. I will say though I am patiently (not so patiently) awaiting the arrival of book two! This book deserves 50 stars and me bowing down and kissing the ground that JC Clarke walks on because she is seriously freaking fantastic and I love her!
A wonderful, funny read. From beginning to end there wasn't any way, at all, I could put this one down. Lots of laughs can be found in the pages. This is a great fun read. I can't say anything else because I don't want to give anything away. This one you MUST READ!
I had so much fun reading this book. I was actually laughing out loud at 3am because I couldn't put it down. The characters are fun and endearing. I loved the characters comments regarding the content of sexy books. I loved the writing and the sarcasm of the main character. I loved it!
Absolutely hilarious! couldn't put it down, such a fun and light hearted story that made me smile from start to finish. This was my first book from jc clarke and can't wait to read more . brilliant!
