One of the rare romance novels that I enjoyed. It actually had a storyline and character development beyond the sex part of a romance novel. The characters were also very likeable.
As a fan of Diana Palmer's category romance books, I have to say that I was quite surprised by the complexity of story and character depths. The story manages to develop three romances, each affording the characters a genuine opportunity to examine their self-limitations and grow beyond them.

Cole Whitehall/Lacy Jarrett-he was a rancher and because of her parents death early in life she came to live with the Whitehalls and his little brother locked them in a shed as a joke so everyone thought that they had sex so Cole married Lacy (this was in the early 1900's) then Cole went away to the war and he was badly burned and didn't think Lacy would want him and he also beleived that he couldn't father a child so he tried to not love her but after a time he gave into desire and this produce...more

I would say that this is my favorite Diana Palmer book. Yes the gushy lovey romance is there, the steamy scenes too, but more story, more indepth plot than some of her other books. Loved all the characters and their flaws, super cute, fun read!! Just what the doctor ordered. A nice read for a day being sick :O}
wow, suka sama ceritanya, beda sama DP yang laen, ni story ibaratnya 3 buku dijadiin satu, ceritanya padat, ngk berbelit, banyak steamy scene bagus, natural. ^^
"When Lacy Jarrett is compromised into marriage with Cole Whitehall, she learns the boy she flirted with not so long ago has been changed by the horrors of war. But Lacy's undying love for the handsome Texan is her destiny, and she vows to reignite the desire dormant in their souls."

This one ... this one. Classic 80s, with all the silent fuming men and the emotional ladies and whatnot. The B plot is weirrrd and the whole thing just seems like a bunch of people who cannot move on with their lives.
Historical romantic fiction....my favorite. This book was right up my alley. I felt that the "voice" of this book made it a little bit cheesy...I might have liked it better if I had read it.

I really enjoyed this book both because its different from her other novels but also because it continually surprised me, though I'm still not sure if that was a good or bad thing
I am not a big fan of straight romance novels but I actually enjoyed this one. Good story line and likable characters. What more can I say?!
I thought this book is very good. It draws you in and keeps you guessing. It keeps you rooting for the main characters.
An amazing book. The era of Jazz and gin after WWI. Ranches and good and bad men.
Loved the characters, but it wasn't my favourite book that she's wrote.
A sweeping historical romance novel. Better than I expected.
This was a racy romance easy to read novel.
Eh.. Didn't do anything for me
An amazingly wonderful book full of romance, relationship, love and growing up. Family story really and now one of my favorites.
Book takes place just after the first world war. Its hero is a struggling rancher, tricked by his young brother into marrying an heiress.
i loved this! its was soooo ohhh there's no words for it! ;)
