This one is about Cash's brother Garon. Garon is an FBI agent and is working on a possible serial-killer case invovling little girls. Grace is the town sweetheart but she is holding a secret that other people in the town of Jacobsville knows about but are unwilling to talk about. This is oneof the better books of Diana Palmer's little town of Jacobsville.

This "hero" was the biggest jackass I've ever had the misfortune to read about. I've read books before (mostly older ones from the 80's and 90's lol) where the male lead is cold, distant, cruel-whatever. This idiot htakes the cake. He has absolutely NO redeeming qualities so even by the end, I was left wishing she had picked the OTHER guy who had, evidently, loved her forever. What can I say? I'm just not a fan of this kind of romance. I'd actually give it 1.5 stars, but I'll go ahead and round up in this case.
Aside from the facts that romances are entirely too predictable and that I think they all sound exactly the same, this particular book had too many repetitive statements that made me feel like the author thought I was dense, had a few correct words in completely incorrect places (the kind that spell check won't catch for you), had one completely discombobulated...more

Diana Palmer, smh, Diana Palmer, why do you do this to me? Allow me to fall in love with jerky,damaged, and amazing souls.
This story was a mixture of sweet and kindheartedness with douchy and jackassness but it just worked somehow. The strength of the heroine mixed with the gruffness of the hero.

dan tidak bosan2nya DP mengangkat cerita tentang dua tokoh utama yg mempunyai masa lalu kelam, yg satu karena trauma perkawinan terdahulu dan yang satu korban penganiayaan dan pelecehan

Okay...I'm trying to get into Diana Palmer since so many folks seem to sing her praises. This is the second book of hers I've read, I have to say, she certainly can tell a story but I do have a problem with her characterization. It seems inconsistent, not to mention parts of the story details are also lacking in consistency as well.

Ok first what I didn't like about this book. I did NOT like the picture being painted of rapeing and killing little girls for entertainment purposes in a romance novel. The discriptors used were tactless and really uncalled for in this book. Second- I hated Garon right up to the end even though Dp tried to redeem him. The man was painted an ass and stayed one through most of the book. Third - Grace was a timid little mouse and with only her witty comments to enhance her she was pitiful. I loved...more
Terrible audiobook...I had to stop it and read it instead! Typical Diana Palmer, the Queen of Miscommunication and Hatefulness, but there's something comforting in that. You always know what you'll get with her. I wanted to smack Garon several times, but he came right in the end. He was a little different than other Palmer heroes...he wasn't really an old-fashioned kind of guy. Some of the plot was ridiculous, and their banter was odd most of the time. I was trying a few of this author's books because so many people seem to like her. After 3 books I've decided I don't. The hero is an idiot and a nasty one at that in this book. The heroine is a wimp. That seems to be par for the course with Palmer. I can stand a wimpy heroine better than a hero who is verbally cruel to the heroine. In addition he thinks she is stalking him whenever he sees her in a town of 2000. That's a pretty small town and you're bound to run into people at social events and...more

One of my favorite Palmer reads so far. (I think I've only read about 7 of her books though). So why you ask is it my favortie Palmer? I love small towns! I really like it when small towns stand-up for their own and don't let people mess with them. This aspect of the book was just over the top of me and pushed it up to a 4 star rating.

This little book packed quite the emotional punch...a little too much at times for me. There was violence against children and that always gets to me.
The romance part was your typical DP, however, with the obligatory virginal heroine, lonely/still mourning or hurting over his ex hero, and Jacobsville's finest. Gotta luv it!!
The part you don't end up lovin': how absolutely STUPID these supposed FBI agents are!! You gotta read the book to understand, but I just can't see how any crimes get solved...more

I did it, I read another Diana Palmer. See, when I saw this book for a dollar I figured why not try it out. The little blurb seemed interesting enough and since the male lead happens to be the brother of Cash, from Palmer’s Renegade whom I liked very much, I figured I might as well give it a go.

This is one of my new favorite romance authors up to date, contemporary or historical. Grace Carver led a tragic life, with a nagging grandmother, with a dangerous past, who's poor and ordinary, and loves life to the fullest. I can't believe this book was even printed, let alone that I actually bought it and MADE myself finish it! I even spent some time online searching for some sign that this was written in the 80's and was just reprinted with some gratuitous mention of e-mail and cell phones. The banter was straight out of some cheesy b-movie. That's not the worst of it...

FBI Agent Garon Grier is married to his work and has no plans to change that, when he helps his neighbor Grace Carver he is intrigued by the woman who has obviously had a very hard life but brings a ray of sunshine in everything she does, and doesn't have any qualms about putting him in his place.
When Garon is asked to help with a possible child serial killer investigation, Garon is shocked when he finds out one of the victims maybe closer to home than he expected.

Not quite sure why I do this to myself. I always give her the benefit of a doubt but I dislike her style of writing so much. She does a lot of ! after ever couple of sentences. The male lead in this book is unbearable - worst representation of a Special Agent. The female lead wasn't much better although her attitude towards the end redeemed some of her child like needs from the beginning of the story.
Romance…of a damaged woman raped and left for dead when twelve and tough FBI man purusing the serial killer of girls. Neighbours. He views her as frumpy, not desirable? But helps her….gradually getting enthralled, sex, then dumps her. Her pain, love, … come together at end. It turns out that she was the first victim of this killer. Writing okay, character of man seems unrealistic?
This so good, I read it in a day. The twists and turns kept me going. Diana Palmer is now one of my favorite authors. Some of it was hard to stomach, as when Garon berates and humiliates Grace due in part to his refusal to love again. Grace is a loving and caring character who has taken a lot of abuse in life and who has an entire town rallying around her. Definitely a good read.
