Very enjoyable history of all kinds of little places in Elko county, with a very good but brief history of Elko. I like reading about such things as ghost towns and why they failed to survive.

Shelves: recommended
Shawn Hall's books, "Old Heart of Nevada" and "Connecting the West" are importnat books for readers who want to understand the early history of Nevada. The pictures are great, the descriptions accurate and everything you want them to be--great maps, for instance and easy to understand directions--save for maybe GPS locations for those who are so inclined.
