It was worse than winning the lottery--much worse. This bequest might mean more money, but the strings attached had Pandora McVie tied up in knots. Respecting Uncle Jolley's last wishes meant spending time isolated in the Catskills with Michael Donahue, her least favorite--though best looking--distant relative and co-beneficiary.

E pouco a pouco lá se vão to...more

This is an interesting story about two people who 'hate' each other (but probably conveniently play off each other instead). They get stuck in the same huge mansion for six months to save said mansion from their power/wealth-hungry relatives. It's an interesting story, and I like Nora Roberts' style, but it wasn't the best book.

At the time though, it was a great way to get my mind off my 'harder' books, and it was available. I needed a romance at the time. It wasn't frothy like a lot of the thin...more

While they don't think much of each other Pandora McVie and her cousin-by-marriage Michael have long been the only reasonable companions to Pandora's eccentric and rich Uncle Jolley. Now that Uncle Jolley is dead, he wills his estate to the two of them so long as they manage to live together in the place for six months.

This is a mid range offering from Nora Roberts. There are no real suprises in the plot or the characters but the way the story played out was enjoyable and the main characters wer...more

The ones who spat at each other should be married - Norah Roberts, A Will and A Way

The moment Pandora encountered Micheal for the first time, I was hooked to this book. I read it years ago, but the fragrance of fresh and brutally honest love that I got from this novel is still with me. I do not like love stories because I read a lot them and somehow I did feel that Norah followed the theme of Judith McNaught in which protagonists hate each other at first but eventually fall in love. But perhap...more

michael and pandora r in a room with a lawyer and their other relatives hearing the will of their favourite uncle

they r left the majority of his estate - much to the disgust of the others - with one proviso. they must live in his house together for 6 months, the only problem is that they r only polite to one another in the company of their uncle.

it is obvious from the first chapter how it is going to go and frankly i could not get thru it quick enough to move onto another book

It was worse than winning the lottery—much worse. This bequest might mean more money, but the strings attached had Pandora McVie tied up in knots. Respecting Uncle Jolley's last wishes meant spending time isolated in the Catskills with Michael Donahue, her least favorite—though best looking-—distant relative and co-beneficiary. Living with a carrot-topped termagant wasn't Michael's idea of a good time, either, but he realized they were stuck. Jolley was a matchmaker to the end—and apparently for...more

I picked up A Will and a Way at a yard sale years and years ago, and it’s one of those books that I don’t regret buying used, but I would never have bought new.

I am not going to lie; this is not in any way a masterpiece. It’s also not as horrible as one would assume. I actually think it’s pretty okay.

Once the story gets going it’s fairly engaging. I have to admit that love stories where the characters initially dislike each other is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, even if this one isn’t as w...more

3.5 stars...We have an estate worth millions, a disgruntled greedy bunch of leeches (aka family) contesting the unusual conditions of Jolley's will which expressly states that cousins Pandora and Michael must remain under the estate's roof for six months before they inherit it all and only one problem with the old man's scheme--Michael and Pandora can barely tolerate one another and someone seems bent on putting them in harm's way. Obvious from the beginning...yet Delightfully rendered!p

One of Nora's oldies--first published in 1986.

Easy going, pleasant read. A good romance, an interesting bit of mystery, likable main characters. Not a bad way to spend an hour or so.

fairly standard plot--eccentric (and very very rich)relative leaves bulk of his estate to our hero and heroine(distant cousins) provided they both live in the mansion for the next six months. Of course they can't stand each other at the outset. Of course the other relatives do their best to sabotage the arrangement....more

I wish I could give this 2.5 stars. Really wanted something fun and mindless since I've been doing quite a bit of heavy reading lately; this definitely was all of that. I couldn't quite give it three stars because the characters all seemed kind of ridiculous and a third grader could have anticipated the plot from the first twenty pages of the book, but hey..it did entertain me for a couple of days and was a nice light read.

As ever with Nora Roberts this was a fair predictable story with the guy and the girl getting together despite initially not getting on. The details were good and I enjoyed the way she described them both at their work.

I would have enjoyed this more, if I wasn't constantly reminded that they were cousins (I don't care how distant- unless they are step). So in order to digest it- in my mind they weren't/aren't. :)

3.5

Would give it a 4 if the solving of the whodunit was given more pages for details. Light-read story though so I guess, these details are not given much importance in a romance book, not a suspense book.

Characters Pandora and Michael are easy to like.

So I bought this book because it was cheap and since I have never read a Nora Roberts book I thought I'd give it a try. There were parts I liked like the mystery of who was trying to hurt them. It reminded me of her In Death series. The romance though was blah and I was not a fan of how they spoke. I kept imaging a fake snobby accent when they spoke. Besides the little mystery going on it was pretty boring. Usually I don't give one star reviews to books I finish but I'm making an exception for t...more

The sort of fun escapism only Nora Roberts can provide. It was a perfect read on the train.

2.5 STARS

Rich uncle dies - leaving the ones who want his money little trinkets and leaves his two favourite family members the bulk of his fortune. BUT they must live together in his home for 6 months without more than 2 days apart. Of course Pandora (neice by blood) and Michael (nephew by marriage) hate one another with passion...but someone hates them more and wants them to leave the house

Meh. I am not sure if I like Nora Roberts earlier romance novels. There is little suspense and the romanc...more

It was a cute story. Basic story with couple not liking each other too much in the beginning and then falling in love with a little mystery involved.

The book was okay. I have enjoyed Nora Roberts recently, but some things about this book really bothered me. Obviously, it's a romance novel but the characters are supposed to be cousins. They explain several times that they are not actually related at all but the fact that they keep playfully calling each other cousins as they are like making out and sleeping with each other continually creeped me out. I was expecting a big twist at the end but, there was none. If I had to describe this book in...more

Oiya, buku ini udah kubaca ulang februari lalu, tapi baru inget masukkin sekarang, heheh....more

Wealthy eccentric Jolley McVie left a surprise in his will when he left the major part of his possessions to Pandora McVie and Michael Donohoe, but to keep it they had to live together at “The Folley” for 6 months. These 2 have never gotten along, or so they thought, Jolley had other ideas. Someone in the family though does not want them to inherit so things happen, first just infuriating things but then it looks likes murder in the plan.

This was a quick, mediocre read, not one of Nora Robert’s...more

This was an easy read and I started off okay with it, but I really had trouble with the hero and heroine being cousins and having a relationship. I may have been able to get past them being cousins by marriage, but all throughout the book they kept calling each other "cousin" and the kissing cousin thing creeped me out. A lot. I stuck it out because I really hate giving up on books. It's doubtful I would have gone three stars even without that. It was fast and easy, but not certainly not fabulou...more

I picked up this novel on the cheap for the Kindle and figured it would be a good fluffy read after reading a book that was rather heavy and it definitely fitted the bill.

While this novel is a bit dated overall, I still enjoyed the story even if it was almost too predictable. If you are looking for edge-of-your-seat type suspense this may not be your book but the romance is sweet and lovely. It's a good fluffy type book for the day that you need it and I have yet to meet a NR book I hate.

In A Will And A Way, Pandora is going to be sharing her uncle’s home with Michael for six months, and even though they’ve known each other since childhood, they’ve never got along! But when they spend time together, will they realise that they have more in common than they firs thought?

A Will And A Way was very easy to get into, and I spent an afternoon quite happily reading and involved in the story. I liked that as well as a romance, there was mystery involved and so it was an intriguing read...more

Tina
Not my favorite of Nora Roberts. I could not get past the fact throughout the book that the main characters were distant cousins yet falling in love and ultimately married. The story line about inheriting a rich uncles estate only if they lived in his house together for 6 mos was a little too far fetched and predictable for me.
