I only gave this one three stars because it is about vampires and vampires automatically merit three stars.
This is one where I loved the concept but the writer just couldn't pull it off as well as she should have. She creates a great little mythology (and apparently this is a series) but her writing is just too self-absorbed for me to spend more time on it.
I will just say that it is not worthy of being in the same genre as the "Blade" movies.

Lil Marchette, an immortal born vampire, owner of Dead End Dating, seeker of killer outfits with designer labels...is wanted for murdering a client.
This believer in happily-ever-afters sleeps in Hello Kitty pajamas, drinks her blood from a bottle, and is holding out for her very own soulmate for eternity. How could she possibly kill someone by chopping them into tiny little bits?

After reading the first book in this series, I was a little on the fence about it. Lil, the heroine, was a little too fashion obsessed and self-obsessed, constantly reminding us that born vamps, herself included, are all ultra sexy and desirable...and there was a plot line in the middle of the book that just did not sit well with me and made no sense to me. But I was very enamored of Ty the bounty hunter.

A great follow up to her first book.
Lil is a 500 year old vampire who owns a dating service. The police walk in and try to arrest her for murder. Of course she will not allow that to happen so she runs. They follow her back to her apartment, and later try to find her at her parents house in CT. So what does she do, she goes to Ty (the ultra hot vamp bounty hunter). As he tries to protect her from herself, and she tries to run her business while on the run from the cops the two discover that bes...more

This is the second book in a series. It can be frustrating how a 500 year old vampire can be so unfocused on the problem at hand, namely how she's wanted in the murder of a human, and can't seem to stay focused long enough to try to figure out who's framing her. You can feel the bounty hunter/friend/made vampire's frustration in trying to figure it out in how she can't understand who would hate her that much. Add that to parents who are almost as bad in that they are all fairly self centered and...more
Maybe 3.5. I keep thinking I will like Raye's "Dead End Dating" books more than I ultimately do. They're bright and fast-moving and quirky and funny, and I'm having a hard time pinpointing what about them doesn't "work" compared to other paranormal romances. Maybe I'd like Lil to have a more compelling romantic interest. Maybe it's that I'm never sure if the mystery/suspense element is supposed to be the main focus or in support of her efforts in her dating service. I like them... in fact, I dow...more

Following up the original Dead End Dating, Dead and Dateless delves much further into Liv's blooming romance with the born vampire Tyler, shows her still struggling to keep her new dating service afoot, and this time around running from the police and trying to clear her name in a messy murder investigation. Plot-wise there's a bunch of happenings stuffed in here, much more than the first, yet it all manages to weave together tirelessly, donating ample time to each plot point but never overcrowd...more
I love love LOVED the first book. Let me start by saying that. Now, let me say I was somewhat disappointed by this installment in the DED series. There was WAY too much I'm-so-horny-I-could-die-if-I-wasn't-already-dead-but-let-me-restate-that-fact-repeatedly-throughout-the-next-two-hundred-pages from the main character, Lil. And the fact that the whole book centered on her not "getting any" and her refusing to "get some" from her love interest "the megalicious bounty hunter" Ty, even though thro...more
Okay, so Lil is growing on me. I'm still not crazy about the vampire rules of these books, but it's still a pretty decent read. My quibbles with this one were minor:
1. The story is about Lil being framed for murder. Hardly any part of the book is her actually looking for the murderer. And it's wrapped up a little too quickly. But the first book did that, too.
2. This is a bigger quibble. When Lil heads to a New York Knicks game to pass out business cards, she says they're playing the Orlando Heat...more

Dead and Dateless is the second installment of the story of 500 year old vampire, Lil Marchatte.
Unlike most vampires, she gets squeemish at the site of blood. "I prefer bottle men," is her mantra. She also suffers from the disease of incurable romantic, a plague to your stereotypical vampire.
As you can imagine, it surprised her as much as the reader when the authorities come to her with accusations of brutally murdering a client of her matchmaking business.

Genre: Vampire Romance/Screwball Comedy
Like the others in this series, it is more of a tongue-in-cheek comedy then a mystery (although it has one) or a romance (though it has that too). Lil, our intrepid matchmaker is being framed for murder. Meanwhile she's got to find 27 hunky alpha-male types for a big werewolf shindig in just 1 week! Guess which she puts the higher priority on? ;-) The perpetrator of the murder blindsides everyone - Lil, Ty (the "megalicious" bounty hunter attempting to clea...more

So...the main character is a 500 year old vampire. How then can she be so ditzy? OR if she is that ditzy...how has she managed to survive for 500 years. In this book she's wanted for murder. Instead of Doug what she should be doing in her predicament, she focuses only on her business and not the business of trying to solve the crime. Um...really???
I started this book and was really into it...then I add some trouble following the lingo. I loved teh whole dating service being run by a vampire...but the fashion lingo and alot of the sland threw me...kind of wish it was a lil more of a straight forward and simple read..overall I loved the concept and hope Lil and Ty end up being together.
The second book in the Vampire Love series was just as entertaining as the first one. Lil is still trying to set up every person she meets via her dating service Dead End Dating. She is still obsessed with clothes and make-up and when turning into a bat, she makes sure it is a stylish pink one. The fact that she is wanted by the police for murder doesn't even slow her down, much.

It is total chick lit PNR. It has an ok plot and the writing style is good. There is not a lot of time figuring out the mystery actually it takes a back seat to Lil's feelings for Ty. I did love Lil's mom though she was a hoot. The name dropping gets on my nerves but outside of that it is a cute book.

I picked this up at the grocery store last week because it looked kind of funny. I didn't realize it was part of a series of books. Apparently this one is the 2nd book, but stands alone well enough to have read by itself. The 1st book is Dead End Dating.

Lil Marchette owns Dead End Dating–a matchmaking service which is making good money. But then Lil is accused of a brutal murder and has to go on the run, while trying to find a way to clear her name and find people dates.
I'm not finding these humour books funny at all and this was one of the worst I've read. Lil is a dreadful character-ditzy, irritating, moronic, whiny and I wanted to put a stake in her myself. If you thought Queen Betsy was annoying then you probably don't want to meet Lil any...more

I am glad I listened to my friend and kept with this series because this second installment was so much better than the first. I really enjoyed the character of Lil so much more and enjoyed the storyline. Having her on the run from the law was an interesting arc and made me like the fact she is not like other vampires even more. Plus, added bonus, she finally hooks up with hottie bounty hunter vamp Ty. And it looks like the series will get even better with the next book. Still having a hard time...more

Lil Marchette, owns a match making business called Dead End Dating. Lil is arrested for the murder of one of her clients. She escapes and runs to Ty Bonner, a made vampire and bounty hunter. She is not good at taking orders about staying hidden and out of trouble. Her business needs clients, exactly 28 for werewolf dates, and she needs the fees to keep Dead End Dating open.

I've always been an incurable romantic. While I enjoy reading all types of fiction, my favorites, the books that touch my soul, are romance novels. From sexy to thrilling, sweet to humorous, I like them all. But what I really love is writing romance--the hotter the better!
