I don't quite know why, but this writer kinda annoys me - not to the extent that I can't stand to read his books, but just that level of annoyance whereby I just can't quite say 'yeah, I like his stuff'. Some of these pieces were clever, some amusing, and some downright funny or smart. I think my favourite was the one about the postcard. “But I do go in for books. I love to own books. Though I read few books twice, I have filled every shelf in my house with books, have had more shelves made and filled those too. My books surround me like a cocoon. When I run my finger along the backs of my books they feel like the ribcage of an old familiar lover. Visit my shelves and you will learn much about me.” 5 likes
“I cannot imagine not reading. Some books, of course, are like lovers; you go to bed with them once and fall asleep immediately...But other books become house guests. THey take up residence in the rooms of the mond and never leave.” 1 likes
