**Let me first say...I have no ill feelings toward Joyce Meyer's, I know many people out there really love her and respect her so please don't take my one-star rating as me bashing or making fun of this author.

After finishing BOTM- I kind of felt as if all I heard was blah, blah,If you had more faith maybe you wouldn’t be thinking all those nasty thoughts...blah blah...I felt that much of her scripture use was taken out of context and used to fulfill a certain agenda. Sorry Joyce but...more

Admittedly like many others here I not a big fan of televangelists, I appreciate their tremendous work in reaching to an audience that would never consider for themselves going face to face with people in a christian church. I do consider alot of their teaching as baby food in the scale of what should a believer should be eating. However coming at low point recently I began reading this book and fed upon every word.

I was surprised and taken back by Joyce Meyor's no nonense, cut and ...more

Before I review this, I will say I'm not a huge fan of Joyce Meyer. I've heard and read some of her stuff, and went to one of her conferences with a friend. I'm not sure her teachings are 100% biblical (she's very health/wealth oriented and that's not biblical), though she DOES have some really good things to say. I've been a Christian since I was little so I felt I could read the book with a grain of salt.

The reason I gave this book four stars is because it is drenched in scripture. ...more

You are what you think. Regardless of your religious beliefs, we all know that what we think about impacts the way we act and feel. I doubt anyone can argue with the power of positive thinking. In “Battlefield of the Mind”, Meyer teaches readers how to change the way they view things.

She doesn’t present herself as someone who’s completely conquered negative thinking; rather, she share personal stories of her past challenges and areas where she continues to struggle.

I thought this book was okay. For me, there was nothing particularly mind-blowing about it. Much of the advice are mantras I've heard before ("this is the power of positive thinking!") or things I already have in practice (taking responsibility for one's actions, working hard, etc.). There was not much "new" information in this book for me.

I also found some of the information wrong, some of it to the point where it could be harmful to a reader with already low sel...more

If one christian woman I love and admire is Joyce Meyers. She knows what she is talking about and what I love about her she keeps it real and we need that in our daily life. We need to keep it real and be real with ourselves and with others. She pratice what she preach. She has been there and know what we all faces in life and what we go thru emotionally.

My advice to all my friends and check her out and read her book it will blow your mind. Her book help not only women but everyone h...more

I learned a few very helpful things in reading this book, particularly the concept of disciplining the mind, and of "renewing one's mind" through Scripture. It intrigues (and scares me a little bit) to think that many spiritual battles can be fought in our thoughts, and that we develop patterns of thought unconsciously, for the most part.

Sometimes I feel irritated by Joyce Meyer's tried-and-true approach: I often get the sense that she thinks everything that has worked f...more

A drawing point for me to this book was that chess pieces were on the front cover. I find it odd that someone chose to have the white king submitted, while the black king stands victorious over him. What is this symbolic of? Before I get lost in this, I'll move on.

Joyce Meyer is either loved or hated, as are many TV evangelists - there are not many inbetweens. I guess I fall inbetween.

This book is very simply written. It is double-spaced and comes in at 278 pages. The ...more

This is a well researched and well written book to help all of us understand why our minds are in a state of confusion...we are being bombarded in our thought-life every day of our life. And when you read the book you will come to understand very clearly who/what is behind all this frenzy we are feeling. Joyce Meyer is a superb Christian writer/speaker with many books to her credit...every one worthy of reading. But this particular one is a lifeline to those who suffer from depression, anxiety, ...more

This book reminds us to pay attention to our thought life because our mind is the battlefield where the spiritual battle for our soul is taking place. Ephesians 6:12 states "For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood, but against the despotisms, against the powers, against the world rulers of the present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly(supernatural) sphere." "Our warfare is not with other human beings but with the devil and his demons. Our enem...more

This is, to me, the best Joyce Meyer book. I think it's what finally broke me free of all the crap I was living with: eating disorders, family issues, divorce guilt, etc. She's straight-forward and clear. I'd recommend this one over all the others. (You don't want to read every book of hers, as you'll tend to see the same stories used to explain different points in more than one book.) I went to one of her conferences because I was so impressed with this book. A guy just released from St. C...more

I am surviving jail because of this book. I received a DUI and am currently in a work release program. This book is bringing me very close to my lord and Savior. I have always had my faith however it was faltering, at best. I have had such a 180 in my thinking and my life due to this book that I want to come back to this same jail after I am out in August to teach of this book and these principles to others that I see in here that are in very desperate need of these ideals. Thank you and I look ...more

The general idea of the book is that there are forces at work to take away your joy - the general way that they work is through bad mindsets. Lessons can be learned through the scripture that can set you into a correct mindset.

I found this book incredibly informative and deeply helpful. Just reading the book set me at a greater ease, and I feel that I took a lot out of it. Repeated readings will probably further help me, but in general, I would gladly recommend this book to anyone...more

Joyce Meyer sent Battlefield of the Mind to me as a gift. In response to the verse shared in chapter 24 (p 263): "A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones" (Proverbs 14:30). It is interesting to me that the Bible teaches that the life and health of the body is a calm and undisturbed mind and heart. I have control of my mind and my heart. My favorite Bible verse is "Keep thy heart with...more

I liked this book. It challenged me in lots of ways. I am hoping to become more mindful this year. To think about what I'm thinking about. To clean up some of my previously accepted ways of thinking.

Currently I'm slowly going through my Scripture references from this book and trying to get those Scriptures to "stick" to my mind and heart.

She talked about strongholds of the mind. I realised for the first time ever that I have strongholds in my mind regarding my in-l...more

Joyce Meyer is a minister who writes and tours as a public speaker. She quotes a lot of scripture using many Bible versions who uses personal experiences to explain different points.

Meyer did have some great strategies for getting control of our minds. First and foremost she said that any depression, doubt and bad feelings were direct results of demons working on us. I had not heard anything that clear before. Another point that stuck with me is her using the Isrealites as an exampl...more

This is "now" my second favorite book, The B.I.B.L.E. (King James Version) always comes first. She's the realest in the flesh that I've seen yet (not by sight), she help me to understand with visible words, "Why" "Why" "Why", by using her life experiences.... you can change your negative to a Positive, slowly but surely...hold on to his hand, GOD's unchanging hand....

*short review: this is the first time i read joyce meyer's book, and i am so incredibly impressed by how much this book changed my way of thinking :) Everything was explained in a simple way, not too complicated for a reader like me - who uses English as a second language. The lessons are given along with examples to give a clearer idea of what the message is. I'm even more happier because there are scriptures from the Bible that supported the lesson.

After reading this book, i am hopi...more

I like Joyce Meyers' positive mental attitude philosphy. This book is a quick, easy read with a lot of scriptural meat. I hope to go through it again, looking up all of the scriptures in my King James Bible because Meyers uses a more modern translation for the biblical verses she quotes. The message of the book is that God wants us to be happy and we can achieve happiness through gratitude, faith, hope and service.

This book is a must for anyone who is facing down self-doubt. Negativity is the enemy and the mind is the battlefield. Meyer makes a wonderful case for tackling life head-on, and the only one who can keep you from doing that is YOU. With God's help, even the most stalwart nay-sayers can dump the "back-to-Egypt" mentality of the Children of Israel and stride boldly into the promised land.

The importance of watching your thought life is greatly emphasized in this book. The author not only demonstrates the importance of this but also includes how to do it. This book will challenge you to allow God to change you by renewing your mind and making your thoughts more Godly. This is a book that would benefit anyone who is attempting to follow God with their whole heart and mind.

POWERFUL!!!! I have learned so much in just the first read. I have given it to 3 people already because the lessons in this book need to be taught to everyone. We are ABLE to choose our own thoughts, and by doing this, take control of our emotions, our responses, etc. God has given us the ability to choose how to live! I cannot say enough about it. It is a must read!

I didn't read every page, the first section was pretty cut and dry, and nothing new. I figured the rest was the same. Pray, read scripture, evil is real, rely on God. All great advice, just didn't need to read a book to learn that. I'm sure there are treasures in there if I gave it more attention. I just didn't think it was going to be worth the investment of time.

Loved this book, and it definitely has been helping me a lot. I think I may even carry it around with me for a good reminder read when my brain starts whirling.
One of my favorite things about this book is it really brings the Bible to life for me. She takes scriptures that I probably never would have thought much of and reads into amazing lessons they bring.
Definitely a good read!

I cherish this book for its clear, no-nonsense approach in applying the Bible to thinking. I cherish my individual copy, graciously autographed by Mrs. Meyer, even though she was attending a book signing promoting her latest work. I have read several of Mrs. Meyer's books, and recommenf them all, although this one remains my thumbs-up favorite.

This book is awesome. I read it every year and every year I find something different I didn't see before. All my brothers and sisters out there who need to find out how to change the way you think that hinders your spiritual growth and relationship with God, than pick up this book tomorrow and begin your journey to a better you. Yours truly Alonda

I loved the book and thought i would not like it... It makes you think and helps you to change your wrong thinking and points out the way satan uses certain patterns in your mind. This is so good and taught me that a wandering mind is of satan... not a good thing. There is a constant battle going on and Joyce talks about the way to win it!

This book is definitely not one you can simply read through. This is a book that will cause you to "eat" its contents. It's amazing how what we think are "simple" or "unimportant" thoughts are the very ones that dictate our lives most. Our thoughts are our lives and those thoughts design our character. Love it!
