I always remembered this as one of the best books I read in my youth, if not the best. 25+ years on, I decided to read it again. The story is about a former planet investigator (literal translation) now turned painter. He used to be stationed on Venus, and as rumours start to spread about a major discovery there, he has to come to grips with a new found ability. This is about as far as I can go without spoiling the plot ;-)

Better than 'Torenhoog en Mijlenbreed', the prequel! I didn't have very high hopes for this novel, because it is set on an overcrowded earth and not on the planet Venus (or Afroi) of the first book, where there is still verdant nature to be found, and because the plot of the first book was slight, with some juvenile characterisation. This book deserves more fame. It should not be tucked away in the childrens section. It is a wonderful, touching and original story, set in a future that does not seem so far away anymore. A worthwhile read!
I remember not being able to get through this book at first, but eventually suddenly loving it most of the three. It's a very interesting world Tonke Dragt created here.
Loved this book when I was a young adult. The books by Tonke Dragt were basically the first fantasy books I loved.
It's been way long since I've read this book. All I remember about it is that it's awesome! Find it. Read it.
