This book...not great. A big thing that I didn't like was how every time Mary Tess spoke it was painfully obvious she was depressed, yet her "best friend" Prudence failed to see it. Also the whole taking off clothes thing with Swann after they had known each other for a few weeks..The title didn't make much sense either, since Swann wasn't so much of a main character to influence everything. Maybe something like "Bottom of the Cliff" or some play on Mary Tess's name.
This book was adequate. I don't remember that much, but I do recall stilted dialogue and plodding prose, with wooden characters to match. I think it's out of print, so apparently my review of the book with a resounding "eh" was not unusual.
