Poor Thumbelina. She wants nothing more than to feel the warm sun on her face and listen to the sweet song of the birds. But in this classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen, even the simplest pleasures can be life's most difficult challenges for a girl no taller than a thumb.

I loved this story and the movie when I was little, but as an adult I now see how disconnected the story is. It says that she uses a dish as a lake, but somehow she actually ends up at a lake. I feel like the book should have said she lived by a lake instead. If that had been the case I would have loved this book.
