Refreshingly, and unlike pundits of his day, Buchanan crafts his arguments by examining world history, offering detailed analogies to the Roman Empire, the Civil War, and pre-Soviet Russia among others. I've read other Buchanan books, and I realize he's actually a good author and decent writer.

This book is well researched, more facts and figures than I had expected.
