This was fantastic. A clear, precise and flexible history of the Civil War. Lays out the historiography and debates clearly while framing them within a neat, well written narrative of the War. Lucid and entertaining, and with an attached annotated bibliography for further study, this is what a history text book should be.
Smart and concise introduction to the history of the Spanish Civil War. I appreciated the way Durgan puts the controversies of the war in context to how different historians have interpreted the war.
