This is a very complex story of two gentlemen from two very different walks of life. Introvert, extrovert... good, evil... Democrat, Republican... you get the idea. It also parallels the generational gap between those set in their ways, and those willing to venture out and explore perhaps a different approach to life. However you dissect it, there is an initial, almost uncomfortable clash between the two main characters in this saga. None the less, you cannot help but continue to turn the pages

Roughly fifteen years ago, when I was just starting out in high school, nothing in the world was more subversive or thought-provoking for me than staying up late on the weekend and watching Saturday Night Live. Around the same time, I think during the final year or two of the Reagan administration (my memory is not so good), the Reverend Jesse Jackson made a cameo appearance on the Weekend Update segment. He read Green Eggs and Ham. No adlibbing, no extra jokes, nothing. He just read the book, c

I still am not sure if this book is fiction or not but the writing is insightful and forced me to look inwards to see who I am as a person? What am I eating? where am I eating it.

A major disappointment after the Seuss masterpiece "The Cat in the Hat." Not much going on here except some clever wordplay. Plot and character development need major work. All in all, who does Seuss think he's kidding with this phoned-in, dashed off attempt at cashing in on his considerable brand name? Seuss - get real! If you cannot dig deeper into your bag of tricks, then it's time to focus on your day job as a healthcare professional.

Green and Purple Scene
Mum! Green eggs and ham!
I wish you'd make them, not just
Purple eggs and spam.
Could Not, Would Not
I could not, would not
Eat green eggs and ham alone
Anywhere but home.
Green Eggs and Lox
It would pay to ask
Can you swap the ham for lox?
At Barney Greengrass.

On the surface, this seams to be a simple tale of learning to like things you never tried. but if you dig deeper, you find a much more sinister manifesto filled with mind control and evil world domination. Yes, I may be treading on thin ice but many have overlooked the subtext and true purpose of this microtome.
Be cautious if you plan on reading this book. not many can remain the same once they have peered into a bucket of pure truth.

I think Seuss is a genius at two distinct genres of children's lit -- the message book and the early reader. This is the book in which I feel that he best balances the two. From the message side, Sam teaches us about persistence while his unnamed, skeptical pal learns that one need not cling desperately to an old idea because ideas (like tastes in oddly colored foodstuffs) can change. But it's also a great example of what a child's reader should be. It has an engaging plot, but effectively u

You might think that this is a children's book. It is really a business book in disguise, as are most Dr. Seuss books. The lesson here is that you should not jump to conclusions or dismiss an idea without reasonable investigation. Over the years, I have challenged my business friends and associates to bring me a Dr. Seuss book that does not contain a business lesson--none have succeeded. So, can a person who has never read Dr. Seuss effectively run a business? Probably, but he likely will spe

I read somewhere that Green Eggs and Ham was written on a dare. Dr. Seuss was dared to write a story using 50 different words or less. Those 50 words have become one of the greatest books in our families library.
When I was young, this was THE book I would bring home from school. Every Wed. for 2 months, I would check our Green Eggs and Ham. My mom called the school and asked them not to let me check it out anymore. Now, many years later, I still will pick it up and read it. (e More...

“Green Eggs and Ham” is a wonderful book for children to read. This book was about a cat who was trying to get a creature to eat green eggs and ham. The creature refused to eat the green eggs and ham. But, at the end, he finally ate the green eggs and ham and actually liked them. There are two main reasons why I like this book.
I like the book “Green Eggs and Ham” because it is a great book to entertain younger kids. The creature’s rhyming was a major part that entertained the children. T More...

I'm struck with how many of my values were reinforced by one Dr. Seuss (or Dr. Theodor Seuss Giesel).
Horton Hears a Who taught tolerance. There's a Wocket in My Pocket encouraged imagination. Oh the Thinks You Can Think exhorted you to use your brain creatively. Yertle the Turtle preached humility.
Then there is Green Eggs and Ham. There has never been a book that so eloquently teaches without preaching that there is value in things strange and different. It is a children's More...

This book never gets old. I am so glad that this book is used generation after generation and it is one of those books that is widely used to introduce reading to young children as young as 2 or 3 years of age and also used to introduce the English language to foreign or bilingual children. It is an easy to read book where words rhyme, and words repeat in a sequential order. It teaches color; concepts of far, near, in, out; animal names and food; all in one book.

The dialogue was VERY repetitive. The characters were very two-dementional. The plot was non-sensical and virtually non-existant.
WHY do they write stories like this? I hadn't even read through the second page when I got the urge to scream at the primary antagonist: "YES! I KNOW YOU ARE SAM! I GET IT OK? MOVE ON..." Man that guy was a creep.
The main character wasn't much better, either. Stubborn and closed-minded, he shows limited character development throughout More...

Now as most stories tend to go by great authors such as Dr. Seuss, there is always an underlying theme to them. These "children's stories" are certainly no exception. Let's take a closer look at Green Eggs and Ham shall we?
The story starts off with the main characters talking. Sam is offering the other some green eggs and ham. The other (we'll call him Bob) politely refuses. Sam continues to pester and badger poor Bob about trying them. He simply does not take no for an ans More...

Green Eggs and Ham
By: Dr. Seuss
Genre: Controlled Vocabulary
I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I am. He does everything to avoid eating them. He does finally eat them and…..he likes them!
Critique:
A. Dr. Seuss is the best at the rhyming words. “Sam I am do not like green eggs and ham” The book flows really well and many people could read this at any age.
B. Because the words are short and sound the same, many young children More...

I bought this for my daughter after she enjoyed Cat in the Hat. The nonsense aspect of Dr Seuss' work is appealing to children and good for their imaginations as well as creative writing.
Speaking as a parent of a child who is quite a fussy eater and especially would not try anything, Green Eggs and Ham is a good book to teach children to try things, not just food, before saying 'no' or 'i don't like it.'

This amazing book provides insights to life as a parent and a child and can be read in 1/100 the time that all you crazy readers spend wasting away in your fantasy world. When the Ecclesiastical leader from my Southworth ward was talking to the young men about wasting time on video games he should have been talking to all these Goodread Bloggers in hopes to save them from themselves. If you are going to read a book, make it SHORT and Sweet. It just goes to show you how much Dr. Seuss really k

One of the definitive novels of the twentieth century. A true story of an epic hero named Sam (I am) whose pride for ones food choice and determination for the happiness of a down in the dumps friend, leads to triumph in the highest possible degree. A true classic in modern American literature, Green Eggs and Ham will for sure live on longer than Sir Theodor Geisel had ever originally intended.
