This is a great book for teaching elapsed time. The pigs want to go on a trip to the beach but keep getting held up with simple, yet time consuming tasks! I would have students calculate the time along with the story. Another extension could be to have student calculate then display the time on analog clocks. (2-4)
A great book to integrate language arts and math lesson together. I did a math lesson about time and as I read the pages, the children would move their clocks to correspond to the time. In addition, the children can make a prediction to see if the pigs will make it to the beach before it closes.
This is a really fun book that could be use to teach time to students. Students could have recording sheets and keep up with the hours passing throughout the story.
