You know those books you just randomly pick up at the library? You look at the title, look at the book jacket, kinda skim the inside cover? This was one of those books. It was good. Not great, but ok. What was weird about it, though was that a murder takes place, which is usually the focal point of a story if it includes a murder but it was kind of this odd background story that ended up tying into the main plotline, sort of. It's like this murder was an afterthought almost. Strange. Dare...more

I picked this book off a shelf, vaguely remembering that I had read it not too long ago. I don't know if it says something about my old mind or about the book, but I had to refer to the back cover to refresh my memory concerning its content. I was amused by the last sentence of that "refreshing" back cover synopsis: ". . .a heart stopping work of suspense, STRANGE BUT TRUE brings to life a cast of characters that no reader will soon forget." Made me feel like I am "n

i'm 1 chapter in and the title seems to definitely ring true. The story is definitely strange.
****
8/25: It is a good book but the story still stays strange throughout. Even so I sort of wish there was more to the story so I could see how all the characters truly ended up. It sort of leaves you with the ability to pick how things end.

An odd story that unwinds its twists over the course of the book. Slightly predictable but still quite gripping. The characters are interesting up to a point and it does engage the reader - but there was something oddly familiar about it all - gay guy, weird mother, dead brother.I wouldn't go out of my way to read any more from Mr. Searles.

Kind of a creepy book until the ending...not really what I expected b/c description made the book sound more interesting than it was. Shallow reveals of all the characters...I wish the author delved into the surviving brother and the ex-girlfriend a little more- there was something interesting with both these characters.

A really great book! I really enjoyed reading this book; so much so, that I read it within 48 hours.
I highly recommend anyone to read this book. It has humor, mystery, odd characters, and deeply rooted family issues.

I bought this book on the clearance sale and although I finished it I would really like my $4.00 back. It bums me out when I spend time reading a sub par book when there are so many good ones out there.
