Because Your Vampire Said So (Broken Heart Vampires #3)
by
Michele Bardsley (Goodreads Author)
Not just anyone can visit Broken Heart, Oklahoma, especially since all the single moms—like me, Patsy Donahue—have been turned into vampires. I’m forever forty, but looking younger than my years, thanks to my new (un)lifestyle. And even thought most of my customers have skipped town, I still manage to keep my hair salon up and running because of the lycanthropes prowling a...more

A human Paranormal investigator finds herself caught in the middle of a paranormal battle saved by a vampire and kissed by a dragon lady before her death. *That was only the first day. She is taken by the "others" to be studied, she seems to have collected some of the dragons powers and her vampire savior did as well. There is an extreme lust going on between the two, it's flaming things up in smoke. She remains a captive, while danger surrounds the compound. One dragon wants her powers, and an...more
I enjoyed this book. However, if you haven't read "Don't Talk Back to Your Vampire" and "I'm The Vampire, That's Why", you won't find it quite as funny. This series of vampire novels are hilarious. They feature the stories of working single mothers whose town of Broken Heart, Oklahoma suffered an attack by rogue vampires. The Consortium (good vamps) came in on the heels of the rogues and saved those they could. Now Broken Heart is the first ever paranormal town.

Now, not only does she have to worry about her rebellious teenage son and her struggling hair salon business, but she also has to worry about getting her butt in bed before sunrise. Too annoyed to look for something else to read, trying my damnest to enjoy it, still not studying, free-falling into a pit of depression. Results:I just wasted 5 hours of my life I will never get back.
I liked this even less than the last one! Why you ask? let's review shall we:
1.Gabriel. He is a hunk, he is a loup-sang, he has the hots for Patsy... end of character development. Yeah that's it he's completely flat. He isn't even big hero material as he seems more trusty canine sidekick than con...more

What I Loved: I am really digging this world setup in Broken Heart. While these books are definitely fun and campy, they do manage to bring light to some very important topics: 1rs book-infidelity, 2nd book-teenage pregnancy, and this one Drug/Alcohol addiction. Michele has done a wonderful job of mixing the humor, vamp/werewolf/hybrid goodness, and some awareness in her books. Plus, she mentions the show Supernatural in this book (great taste there LOL)

Patsy Donahue is just your normal beautician in Broken Heart, Oklahoma. Oh wait, she's not. She's a single mom beautician with a alchoholic druggie son who's a vampire. Not to mention she can see ghosts, talk to them, and pretty much make a zombie army. Let's not forget that there is one sexy werewolf-vampire named Gabriel who is hot and dangerous, and wants Patsy as his mate. Well, what the hell? She binds with him and truly loves him. But, Patsy figures out she's supposed to rule the vampires...more

To be honest, this book was not good. It seemed as though someone published the outline for the book, rather than bothering to actually write it. Maybe the editors set a page limit and cut 1/3 of the original writing. I don't know, but the result was bad. Half of the book is dedicated to explaining the history of vampires, and the other half to the epic unfolding of a phophesy that makes hairdresser Eva the queen of vampires. Which leaves about 10 pages total for her romance with werewolf Gabrie...more

Review of Broken Heart Series by Michele Bardsley:
Welcome to Broken Heart, OK, home to Vampires, Blood Wolves, Shifters, Fae, Dragons and Werewolves. The Broken Heart series focuses on the Paranormals in the city. I would hate to be a kill joy. I have to say this was not my favorite series after book four. The first four books were great and I enjoyed them. They were a little one note in the first person department but the stories surrounding each female were fun and...more

Of the 2 previous books i have read, this one rocks on the plot. It totally has something to do with a hot werewolf/vampire, some hawt scenes, and most of all some kick-ass super powers, that's plural!
The story contains some actions, drama that makes me respect our heroine and like her more, some intereting prophecy and naming of queen.

*sigh i always have a knack for queens and extra-ordinary powers. It felt like this book pushed the whole series to a whole new level.

LOVE IT!

Once again, Michele Bardsley entertains us with another installment in her Broken Heart series; Because Your Vampire Said So. In this book, we see Patricia Donahue and how she comes to terms with being a dead (or rather, undead) single mother. As always, her books are filled with interesting Vampire Myths and wonderfully crafted storylines. Sex scenes (although in this book are modest, surprisingly) are ever present, and in a (strange, unsual) way actually make the storyline better. The characte...more
Ms. Bardsley has rapidly become one of my favorite authors. When I read one of her books, I know that I'm going to laugh until I cry. Her characters get into absurd situations that always make you think "what could they possibly get into next?"
Because Your Vampire Said So is a real page turner! I read it cover to cover in less than 3 hours and would happily read it again - and again - and, well, I'll probably read it a few hundred times until the book falls apart and I have to buy a new copy.

#3 Broken Heart Vampires
Even though all the non-vamps in Broken Heart, Oklahoma, skipped town, Patsy Donahue has kept her hair salon up and running thanks to the werewolves prowling around. They know how important good grooming is, especially a certain rogue shapeshifter who’s as sexy as he is deadly. Now, if only she could put a leash on her wild teenage son, who’s up to his neck in danger. The stress would kill Patsy, if she wasn’t already undead. But her maternal instinct is still alive and k...more

This installment of the Broken Heart Vampire Series centers on the town beautician (Patsy) who may be integral in a prophecy that would unite Lycans and Vampires and help take town the Ancient Vampires that have gone rogue. Will Patsy fall for the mysterious white wolf that saves her life? Will she help her son tame his wild ways of weed and drinking or will he follow his father into the despair of alcoholism?

What is the book about?
Patsy, forty-year-old single mom and hair stylist, is a vampire now. She has her hands full figuring out how to deal with her new lack of clients now that there are so few humans in Broken Heart, and with her rebellious sixteen-year-old son, Wilson. Wilson’s an emotional mess with a drug problem, not unlike his alcoholic father, and Patsy has no idea how to handle him.
Suddenly all of that seems so simple by comparison when she finds herself targeted by demons and ancient...more

The Broken Heart Vampire Series is a quick, fun-filled read and this is a series you just cannot pass up. You will enjoy every page until the very end.
In BECAUSE YOUR VAMPIRE SAID SO, we have single mother Patsy who runs a beauty parlor as our heroine. I admit I did not like Patsy as well as Jessica and Eva, but she was still a fun character.
Patsy is having some trouble. Patsy has a not so good relationship with her teenage son who is apparently turning out like her ex-husband, a druggy and she...more

Mmm. I need to save most of my comments for the book club but I will say a few things. I started out not really enjoying the tone of the book, kind of silly and fluffy-what I didn't like about the Sookie Stackhouse book I read. I continued to give it a whirl since that was the premise of the book club-light reading. I enjoyed it enough, I especially liked the back story on the creation of the vampires, and some of the myths used. Not sure how much was based on research and how much was made up,...more
The Setting -- is still Broken Heart, Oklahoma. You see a lot of Patsy's hair salon and her trailer and a few other places you may or may not recall from a previous book.
The Characters -- are still as endearing as ever. I really did like Patsy; then again I grew up knowing this type of character in real life, so I had an excellent mental video of what Patsy was doing and how much hell she was raising. Her love interest, Gabrielle, didn't impress me as much as I would have liked. I will say that...more

Because Your Vampire Said So features Patsy, a single mother, and newly turned vampire that is the town hair dresser. But even though she is part of the undead crowd, she still has to deal with her teenage son that is growing further and further apart from her. And there is an evil ancient vampire that is causing trouble for all of the Broken Heart residents. Before Patsy knows it she is being targeted by that ancient vampire and her savior comes in the form of a shapeshifter named Gabriel. It l...more
The third book in the Broken Hearts Vampire Series.

This book features another one of the 11 that were turned - the town hair stylist Patsy Donahue. Patsy is kind of bored now that she is a vampire. She doesn't have to worry about bills since the consortium paid off everyone's mortgages and pretty mu...more

Double ACK!
This is the 3rd in this series and it feels like Bardsley has lost the touch.
The story is chopped up, there are obvious errors that should have been caught by decent editors (maybe she should stop thanking and praising them until they get one right) and the whole story arc has lost its novelty. Dialog is forced and confusing.
Don't waste your time on this one. I'm debating on whether to give the next book in the series a try or just sign off as done.

Because Your Vampire Said So by Michele Bardsley is book three in the Broken Heart Series of what I call chick-lit-paranormal genre.
When you're immortal, being a mom won't kill you it will only make you stronger

This is a fun, light, fast read style series. Good as a pick-me-up if you're in a reading rut.
So, what happens when 11 single moms/dads get turned into vamps overnight? The Consortium moves in and takes care of you. Of course all the humans have to move out of town, except for your family.
So what do you do if you own & run the local hairdressers, with no customers? You start catering to all the werewolves that have moved to town.

"Because Your Vampire Said So" is the third installment of Michele Bardsley's Broken Heart Vampire series. Like the other two books, this one mashes together humor, adventure and romance into the book. Like the other two it comes out successful. With this story you also get a look into the history of the Ancients as Patsy gathers their powers. That was a nice break since the Consortium have been a bit too mysterious and this was a good way to venture a bit into their stories.

The first few pages almost were enough for me to give up reading.... I mean seriously? You can't breathe, but you can talk, smell and other vampires take deep breaths throughout the series.... serious?
Reading on (that little issue irked me the entire story) the story was okay and somewhat enjoyable. I liked how the characters were quirky.

Nationally bestselling author Michele Bardsley spends her days creating fictional worlds because, let's face it, reality sucks. A prime example is that no one has yet to figure out how to make calorie-free chocolate. What's up with that? She received an associates degree in liberal arts, which was no help whatsoever for becoming a novelist or a decent housekeeper. She lives in Oklahoma with her so...more
