During a ghost walk at the Jasmine Cemetery, Theodosia and the crew of the Indigo Tea Shop are serving up tea and treats to spectators when tragedy occurs. The uncle of Theo's boyfriend stumbles into the show, collapsing, and dying in her arms. Knowing Theo's sleuthing skills, her boyfriend, Jory, asks her to look into the murder and try to find the person responsible for his uncle's death. Little do they know the dangers Theo and others will face during the course of the investigation.

Murder gets a little closer and more personal for Theodosia. Jory's uncle Jasper Davis is killed at a ghostwalk through the cemeteries right in front of her eyes. She is fond of Jory's uncle and extremely upset when he dies. Detective Tidwell comes to the Indigo Teashop to tell her he was killed by a fatal injection and for her to stay clear and NOT do any nosing around. But then Jory asks her to help find who killed Uncle Jasper. So, she feels she must help. Delaine Dish runs her mouth and tell...more

It is another delicious addition the the tea shop mysteries. The characters are as adorable as ever and as always never read when hungry or thrusting cause it is torturing yourself.

Although I have to admit and this might be somewhat of a spoiler, this is the fourth book that I have read that my prevailing theory to figuring out the whodunit has worked again. Okay, so take all of the new characters that are introduced and the one person who Theodosia does not suspect at all, is the killer!! Which...more

Theo finds herself on the trail of a clever murderer in this case that is very personal. Trying not to get killed investigating the murder of her boyfriend's uncle, Theo stumbles across a web of intrigues. Childs uses in this one her background as a PR person to add a nice finish that ties all the plotlines together. Much better than the last one, the plot is solid and the tea shop gang is in high form. Haley's cooking makes your mouth water and Drayton's tea menu just makes you want to go and b...more

I forgot all about this one until I just put it into the 'library bag' (also forgot to update my library account and now have fines on this one). Theodosia is wonderful, her friends are loyal and the setting is terrific. I am grateful for Laura Childs and her constant output of mysteries that make me laugh and inspire me to cook new things around here. I may someday explore the world of tea beyond those that come from Tetley but in the meantime it's fun to imagine.

The Indigo Tea Shop is catering a society event in Charleston, South Carolina. The event is a "Ghost Crawl" through the grounds of the Jasmine Cemetery. The organizer of the event, Dr. Jasper Davis, is murdered during the event. Theodosia, the owner of the Indigo Tea Shop, once again used her sleuthing abilities to solve the mystery. The recipes at the end of the book are very much appreciated. A light read for when you just need to disappear with a book.

Laura Childs is great for consistently good cozies! Whether your in the mood to spend the afternoon in Charleston or New Orleans, you can't really go wrong with any of her titles. Fun and intelligent female sleuths and their friends never disappoint. Both sleuths have frustrating love lives, but it doesn't distract or detract... you just want them to get a good guy some day!

I enjoyed this book very much. I felt as confused as Theodosia was until the last three chapters. I was thinking the murderer was someone else until they turned up dead also. This book was the fifth in the series which I have really enjoyed reading. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

Ok. I fell hook, line, and sinker for this one!! TOTALLY believe it was someone else. I was totally surprised when the real killer was revealed (AND why! WHEW!)
This one was really good ~ the ending was also much better than the last one. The characters were even better in this one. More rounded and believable.
And once again, I so wish I could drink tea. So many varieties ~ they all sound so lovely!!!

Each new title shows the skills of Theodosia Browning, sleuth/tea shop owner Extraordinaire and her staff. Laura Childs, the author immerses us in the beauty of historic downtown Charleston and its various landmarks, festivals, historic churches, and social life.

A fast and fun read. It was a bit slow, and I figured out the 'who-dunnit' long before the end, but it was an nice book to read. I think I may pick up other books in the series. Although I'm not a tea person I certainly enjoyed the recipes included in the book.

I really like this series! I know some people think they are silly, but I just love the characters. My favorite part is not so much the mystery but I like reading about the tea shop and the teas they make and the recipes in the back of the book.

This is a good series, Tea Shop Mysteries. I like the characters and like their friendship and caring for one another. The stories are fun and there is no bad language. And I love Charleston, SC where the series is set so that is just a big plus!!

Maybe more like 2.5. Decent enough read, but troubled by the privileged monied people who commemorate the civil war without recognizing the horror of it. Might read the first in the series to see how it all started, but not sure.

Got from the library and it's going back straight away. The heroine is fake and I have to agree with another reviewer who said she seemed rather forced. I like tea but found the few pages I labored through very tiresome.

I enjoyed this tea shop mystery & figured it out very early on, but the murderer's motive was not very well developed, but this seems to be part of Child's MO, and I enjoy the setting and characters enough to keep reading them!

I thought this book was the best in the series. Theodosia Browning is the main character (a modern day Nancy Drew type) in this series. It usually revolves around happens in Charleston or the immediate area. Theodosia owns a tea shop named Indigo Tea Shop. Drayton Conneley is a master tea blender. Haley is their baker and cook-she makes alot of mouthwatering recipes that are listed in the book. Her boyfriend is Jory Davis. During the Ghost Crawl that Theodosia agreed to host Jory's Uncle Jasper...more

Like the previous Tea Shoppe cozy I read earlier today, this one was pretty good. A solid 3.5. The set-up was a little better than in The Silver Needle Murder.

An easy afternoon read, if you're a cozy fan.

Book #47 read in 2011

This book seemed less about the mystery and droned on about the tea shop. I understand the background of the characters is important, but in a mystery novel, the mystery should be more prominent.
Marilyn
This was a good one, two murders. Lots of suspects. Theodosia against Detective Tidwell's advise is doing her low key investigation and ends up right in the middle of it. As luck would have it she barely escapes being murdered.
Marie
I really enjoyed this book. It gave me a new series to start reading. The characters are likeable. Theo, really dosent do too too much investigating, but I love her tea shop and the people there.
Patty
I enjoy the Tea Shop mysteries. I don't drink tea, I don't understand about half the descriptions of the tea, but the mysteries are fun and I enjoy Theo, Haley and Drayton - the are fun characters.

This time around Theo gets involved in the murder of her current beau's uncle. She must find out if it has something to do with the local theatre, the historical society or the business that Uncle Jasper worked for - which leaves her with a wide cast of potential suspects.

There is a cool scene with a f...more

Just one of the Tea Shop Mysteries. Endearing characters, fabulous Charleston setting. I love how they stop to drink just the right cup of tea when things get tough. Good beach reading!

Jory's uncle is murdered and he begs for Theo's help. However, he ultimately comes to hate her sleuthing. I knew who the killer was right away.
Darlene
It's all about the tea party recipes and descriptions of Charleston...the mysteries are pretty good and her dog's name is Earl Gray

I enjoyed this mystery in the Indigo Tea Shop series. The characters continue to develop and I love reading about the activities of the shop and the teas and foods. The mystery was good this time, although I had my suspicions along the way. It was well done and enjoyable.
Andrea Kelly
I love these books! The mysteries are fun and different, the characters and setting are charming, and Childs' is an engaging writer.
Haley Montgomery
My first book by this author and I loved how the tea details were woven through it. A good cottage mystery read.

Deb Sharp
This was a really interesting storyline I read this book in one night I could not put it down until I had finished it!
Vera
An early Teashop mystery I had on my shelf but hadn't read. I think the later ones are better but this was still good.
