Raw, brazen and totally intense, Fucked Up + Photocopied is a collection of frenetic flyers produced for the American punk scene between 1977 and 1985. Many were created by the musicians themselves and demonstrate the emphasis within the punk scene on individuality and the manic urge of its members to create things new.

Beautiful, high-quality images of punk rock flyers make up the bulk of this large paperback. Hardcover would have been better. The heavy, glossy pages are already pulling apart the spine after my first read. Mostly from a West Coast point of view, bands like Dead Kennedys, The Avengers, Black Flag get their own well-deserved pages with remembrances from band members, scenesters like Brendan Mullen, etc. The final quarter or so is other scenes: Boston, The Midwest, Canada, etc.

Gorgeous in hardcover, great variety. Glad I coughed up the money. Only worth it for art and design fans or people who still have flyers perfectly preserved from shows they went to half a lifetime ago. You know who you are.

Not much to "read" here, but a great visual history of punk rock flyers. I appreciated how it was split up into regional chapters. Checked this out from the library, but would definitely consider buying it.

So many stories about lack of access to working toilets reminds me why though I love the music I am glad I never lived the life.

Recommends it for: designers/artists
This book has so much variety when it comes to showing artisty & emotion from the punk rock movement. It features advertisments, typography, and exposes on bands like the Dead Kennedys and NOFX! Visual read with plenty of great information on all things true punk.

This was on my list to read but I'm not sure how it made it on the list. I love punk but this book is basically a collection of flyers from various punk shows over the years.
