While this is a very good and useful yoga primer for people with fibro (I am one), I had to give it a less-than-perfect rating for its two glaring flaws:

1. Early in the book, the author explains that we need to take care in "Understand[ing] the difference between a tight muscle and a tense muscle," because stretching tense muscles can be dangerous and lead to injury. After this useful piece of advice, however, there is NO FURTHER EXPLANATION of how to tell a tight muscle from a tense muscle! It

I had such high hopes with this book. Sadly, it didn't actually meet them. It is a useful book and I am glad I own it. It is very small, mostly an overview. It does have some interesting information and suggested positions. I have Fibromyalgia. Some days I am in a lot of pain and can barely move. I do know that Yoga has been proven to help Fibromyalgia pain. I was hoping for a system of yoga. A place to start and gradually move to a regular yoga work out. This book is mainly a book of ...more

A great book to help you continue to do yoga with a chair during flair up times and to have the confidence to go unaided for when you are having a good day. It is worth a read when you find yourself struggling and stressing yourself out when you find yourself one day being able to do amazing stretches to not being able to lift a limb. It can be very disappointing when this happens and this book help you to understand not to be so hard on yourself, yoga sessions are journeys and not every road ...more

Good for someone new to yoga and needs VERY gentle exercises. Could be of great comfort/support to those with fibromyalgia as the woman doing the postures is a yoga teacher who has had fibromyalgia for years.

Excellant book. As a fibromyalgia sufferer I am always looking for ways to exercise that will not increase the pain, this book definately ticks that box!
