I swore I wouldn't read another in this series after Glamis Castle. I lied. Maybe because I'd hoped things had improved - I wasn't far off the mark, unfortunately. Paige has added ANNOYING things, like references to past books with little asterisks (throwing the reader off the story track) and time line JUMPS as well (first scene, jump back to before that scene and then including the same scene in another character's POV, which BORED me, and that wasn't the only jump either.) I slogged through t

Another in the Kate and Charles Sheridan mystery series. Reminds one that terrorism and assassination are not new as political "tools" for changes. Set during 1902 and the coronation of King Edward and Queen Alexandra, it involves the death of an inept anarchist who becomes a suicide rather than his goal of homicide.

This is the 10th book in the Victorian-Edwardian mystery series. Kate and Charles are going to attend the coronation of King Edward when an anarchist blows himself up in Hyde Park. The king asks Charles to aid in the investigation. The plot revolves around Russian anarchists, an underground newspaper edited by a woman, Charlotte Conway, who escapes from arrest. She asks for help from her friend, an actress whom we met previously as a girl who knew one of the Jack the Ripper victims. The historic

Another good entry in this series. I really enjoy the blend of cozy mystery with historical events and characters. Jack London is a character is this book although he's not very likable. Kate and Charles must contend with Anarchists, Bolsheviks, and Russian secret police to solve the mystery of a failed plot to blow up the King and Queen.

Another author (actually, two...husband and wife (Susan Wittig Albert)team)that I really enjoy. This series people who lived during the time of these books so you learn about the character of people who actually existed even though the books are fictional. I love the Victorian era maybe it's because my heritage is English?

I have read quite a few of this series and certainly enjoy them. The characters are strong and fully formed. The history of he Edwardian age is a benefit. Charles (an English baron) and his American wife, Kate, who is an author of several books and very "liberated" are attending the coronation; along with author Jack London who is pursuing story ideas in East End London. A young anarchist is killed by his own bomb and the female editor of the local anarchist newspaper is running from t

I don’t do well with Russian politics. Anarchists, Reds, Whites, Bolsheviks…I can’t keep them straight and so I spent most of this entry skimming until I got to something I understood.

Great story, unfamiliar time period - Edwardian, set in London with a real life character, Jack London the writer.

Nice light Edwardian detective novel. Didn't enjoy this quite as much as death on dartmoor.

Really quite a good read. First of this author's books I have read. Very entertaining. I'll read more of their work in future.
