Lady Danielle aka The Book Huntress
I loved this book. Lucien was absolutely sigh-worthy to me. So sad and lonely. And, he got his very own heroine who wouldn't give up on him. I think it took some major confidence to go after her man full throttle the way Anya did. From the beginning, I knew I would like Anya. She was the kind of heroine who knows what she wants, and is willing to work for it. Yes, she's a prankster, rather silly, in her own words, and not much for telling the truth, and she can be a pain in the butt at times. Bu...more

Opening Line: " Anya, Goddess of Anarchy, daughter of Lawlessness, and dealer of disorder, stood on the edge of a crowded dance floor."

THE DARKEST KISS is book 2 in the exciting and original Lords Of The Underworld series and it's absolutely fantastic. Gena Showalter has outdone herself here, further developing previous characters and sub-plots she has also created my new favourite couple in Lucian and Anya. Their story is filled with raw emotion, tons of sexual tension and non-stop adventure. T...more

Resmen...more

As an immortal warrior bonded with a demon, the scarred Lucien has to escort human souls to heaven or hell. He is the Keeper of Death. Usually calm and collected, although riddled with insecurities, he walks a lonely life, never wanting to fall in love again. Not after Mariah. But then Anya, the Goddess of Anarchy, shows interest in him. Does this strawberries and cream scented woman truly want him or is she merely a trickster? And most importantly, will he be able to kill her as ordered?

My, my, my. I don't know how I'm going to wait another month for the final book in this trilogy by Gena Showalter. I really enjoyed the first book "The Darkest Night" (see my review), but I just loved "The Darkest Kiss". And the hunk on the cover...whew, hold on to your hats ladies, cause he's one steaming hunk of manhood, er demonhood?

He is Death. Since he was the leader of his men and released the demons from the box, it's only fitting that the demon he houses is Death. His job is to ferry the...more

description

The Goddess of Anarchy (her friends call her Anya) has a thing for one of the Lords of the Underworld. He's got intriguing and mismatched eyes, scars all over his body, he's quiet, brooding, and never cracks a smile. And she should know... she's been stalking him for weeks.

Catching Lucien's attention seems to be a lesson in futility for Anya. Add that to the fact that he's been summoned to kill her, and it seems hopeless. But even Death h...more

Bide Reyes ve Paris'in kısa bölümleri iyiydi.
Gelecek kitapları merak ediyorum ama Paris'e daha çok yol var :)

Highly entertaining. Lucien aka Death is minding his own brooding business when Anya, a beautiful strawberry and cream scented goddess tries to seduce him in a club much to his disbelief. You see, he has scars, on his face and body that terrify the ordinary person. No women approach him.

Everyone assumes she's Bait to capture or kill him, yet there are no weapons on her and no hunters around to do the deed. She'll only go away if Lucien agrees to give her one kiss. After stalking him for weeks s...more

This is the second installment in Showalter's "Lords of the Underworld" trilogy, and while I gave the first book an extra half-star, I believe I'll leave this one at four. This story is about Lucien, who houses the demon Death. Lovely, right! Actually, he is a HOT, but tortured - and scarred! - hero filled with self-loathing; therefore, he is skeptical when a minor goddess, Anya, actively pursues him. She harbors a few secrets about her past and a curse or two she has to live with. When Lucien f...more

Well I certainly enjoyed this book much better than the first in the series, and think that I will now continue on with the series so I am glad I decided to give it another chance.

I think I just enjoyed Lucian and Anya's characters much more than Maddox and Ashlyn. They seemed so complex and they each had so many layers to the emotions and actions. Although I must say the plot in this book was pretty thin. It did do a good job of picking up mini story lines from the previous book (like Aeron, D...more

This is the 2nd book in the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter. This book has the story of Anya and Lucien. Lucien is the Keeper of Death and he is the leader of the Budapest warriors. Anya is the Goddess of Anachy. Also with minor storylines are Paris, the Keeper of Promiscuity, Reyes, the Keeper of Pain, and Danika Ford.

Lucien as the keeper of Death escorts souls to either heaven or Hell. He is scarred and mistrusting. He has come to terms with his inner Demon and is on a quest to...more

Perhaps I spoke too soon regarding this series? I was surprised to see that this book had higher ratings than the first book? What gives, folks? I was really unimpressed with this one. My ratings ranged from 1 to 3 stars in the book, never anything higher than that. Yes, I know I said I liked a touch of ridiculousness, but the keyword was a touch of ridiculous! Not absurd.... which is exactly what I got throughout the book.

Lucien was not a bad hero. I did not like that he was weak or losing for...more

This is an excellent book. It captures your attention from the very begining. Anya is a sexy, strong, and independent "minor" goddess of Anarchy. She flirts with danger when she messes with Cronus the king of the Titan gods. Anya also enjoys flirting with Lucien who is the keeper of death. While these two characters lust for one another they also battle it out since Cronus instructed Lucien to kill Anya; otherwise his friends would suffer. Everything heats up as they battle each other and then...more

Now this was what I was hoping for in this series. The first book was good, but it was setting up so much for the rest of the series that it took away from the action and the story. But this book was fantastic, wildly entertaining, sexy, and everything I was hoping for in the first book.

This book is about Lucien (Keeper of Death) and Anya (the Goddess of Anarchy). We met Anya at the end of the last book and I decided quickly that I loved her to pieces. This book only made me like her more. I thi...more

I'm really loving this series so far. Although I was a little surprised and hesitant with the pairing for Lucien. My first reaction was 'really?'. Anya g-ddess of Anarchy with Lucien, an immortal warrior possessed by the demon of Death. Interesting combo. She was first introduced in the previous book and she seemed fun and quite colorful but I couldn't take her seriously with the way she acted. But she grew on me and I loved the transformation she made in this. I loved how deeply they...more

Lucien, the Keeper of Death, is known amongst his brothers for his legendary calm. Carting souls to both Heaven and Hell all day requires some detachment if you hope to retain some semblance of sanity. His carefully woven calm will shatter though when the Goddess of Anarchy enters his life, hoping to sway him. Little Anya is rather successful, but Chronus, the God of Gods, has other plans and orders Lucien to kill her, or else…

RE-READ 02.09.2012. - 05.09.2012.

I just wanted to cry, that how interesting the main characters were. Character development is seriously in jeopardy, and I think that Showalter should really work on it and hard too because, as much as the world and the circumstances they're in are fabulous, there's not much to it if the main characters are just horny jackasses that are thousands of years old but act like pre-school kids.

His friends consider him the ever calm one, but that is of course until he meets Anya, and his world is turned upside down. Once again I sat down with A Lord of the Underworld and couldn't put it down til I turned the last page. (I am sooo digging this series!) It's fun, tortured, and every bit of addictive candy coated escapist reading as any of our favorites right now!

Characters:

Anya.
Anya is my favorite heroine of ALL time. Okay, seriously. THE BEST. She's just the most awesome character ever, and she completely and totally made this novel. She is tough and unbelieavably strong. She can hold her own against the lords with no trouble. On top of that, she's funny, quirky, and the way she treats Lucien is...I don't even have words. She is so adorably protective of him, even when she was trying to kill him, she still cared about him...And how she got angry when t...more

I absolutely LOVED this book - MUCH, MUCH BETTER than the first one! It kind of reminded me of a paranormal version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith - both characters lust for each other but certain obstacles stand in their way. For one, Lucien has been ordered to slay Anya or his friends will suffer. And Anya...well, she's not too keen on the thought of being killed. Anya was one of my favorite heroines: strong, funny, tough, smart and vulnerable, too. Lucien was super sexy, courageous and tormented. Howe...more

Another excellent novel in the series!

I enjoyed this one more than the first!

I loved how Showalter wrote Anya’s character. As the greek goddess of anarchy, Anya truly acted like a greek goddess; from the stomping of a foot when she didn’t get her way, to pitching a fit if called a ‘minor’ goddess, to the way she changes her mind and is constantly after what she wants, the portrayal of a Greek Goddess hit just the right spot.

And Lucien… no matter how much he tried to push Anya away, she still got...more

Wow! Book #2 in the Lords of the Underworld series and I am anxiously awaiting book #3 to come out (July 2008). So far, it looks like the series should be read in order as characters are in the books as minor or major parts. This little book packed a whollop of imagination. Thought I "figured" out what would happen and was pleasantly surprised when I was...wrong. Nice twists and turns in the plot and how the story unfolded. Didn't see that coming!
