Read in January, 1981
I don't remember anything about Amis' classic "Lucky Jim," which we read in college, but this is a truly creepy modern gothic tale based on an old English legend about a leafy monster that emerges from the deep woods.

Just a good solid book. Kingsley's like the third pig when it comes to building a story. Not like his schlepp of a son, who'd rather build a house of cards.
