I suppose it would have been a bit redundant if the first half - really first eighth - was a bit more detailed. The meat of this book is the epigraphy, which takes on in a very detailed rigor, the Macedonian hegemony in Greek states.

The reading requires quite a proficiency in the topical history; let alone the Greek language. But I still found I could follow along with much of the astute insights the inscriptions described.
