A lot of other reviews can tell you about the excellent theme and flavour, so I'm going to review the core mechanic: the Linear d6 System.
The traits and how they're broken down are a little wonky and off the beaten path, but each one gets a Grade between 1 and 12 based on your archetype. If you don't have a grade in a trait, it's K for Kindergarten, and you can't succeed at that trait. Rough, but it keeps player roles compartmentalized, and you can always buy into it.

Pretty sure my review of Fiasco started out I WANT TO PLAY THIS SO BAD TOO BAD MY FRIENDS ARE LOSERS. Thanks a lot, Jess, for showing me yet another game I'll never get to dive into.

Anyway this is a roleplaying game where you start out as a third-grader who ends up in this magical fairyland where lots of things are trying to kill and/or eat you. The world is based on Grimm's fairy tales but the system writers dialed the awfulness up to 11 so there's much more potential for horrible scariness to

This caught my eye while at a festival. The interpretations of Grimms' fairytales in this game are delightfully twisted and dark (more so than the originals) and the game mechanics are refreshingly simple; players are, after all, playing 9-12 year old kids, so skills and abilities need not be particularly broad or complex. Grimm looks like it's going to be catalogued as yet another roleplaying game that I'd love to give a spin, yet won't ever get around to on account of time constraints.
