I must say, this is best book of all by Jude Deveraux. About time-travel romance, finding and recognizing true love even if its separated by decades of time. So, you will get to read about Nicholas realising his true love in Douglass's modern t...more
Nicholas is a real live Knight in Shining Armor sent to comfort a heartbroken Douglass in 1988. Destined to be soul mates through all eternity, the two set out to clear Lord Nicholas' name and right the wrongs done during his Elizabethan life. Just as he gets used to the weird inventions and strangness of the twentieth century, they are whisked back through time to 1560 where Douglass gets to experience medieval life.
HOWEVER, with that being said, I still hig...more
Its one of those books that impact you and stays with you forever. Love or hate the ending- it is a romance must read.
A Knight in Shining Armor takes place in England (1560-1988) and stars Nicholas Stafford as the hero and Dougless Montgomery as the heroine. It begins in 1564 to fin...more
Jude Deveraux is a famously popular writer, and since I am NOT about bashing the writer, I will only give my opinion based on her work. Unfortunately, I have nothing pos...more
In 1990 I was a senior in high school, and I was friends with my music teacher. It was one of those odd things I never understood how it happened, though I think it started when the drama teacher cast me for the lead in Fiddler on the Roof but I couldn’t sing. (That’s a long, weird story. Don’t ask.) She was charged with fixing that minor detail, which led to a lot of before and after school private lessons. At this point of my life things were starting to come seriously apart. I’d weathered som...more
Upon rereading this over 10 years later, I can say that it is not exactly what I remembered. I cringed at how weak and pathetic the heroine was. The "falling in love" part didn't have the spark I remember; what does Nicholas see in Douglas in the first place??? She's a basket case who allows men to walk all over her.
So "the thrill is gone"... Below is my review of what I remembered of the story. This book just doesn't stand the test of time for me.
Also for audio fans: read it i...more
Parts of it seemed like a reporter was writing events that were happening each day. The author was trying too hard to make us not like Robert and his daughter. They were too bad to be believable. Dougless's reasoning didn't feel real to me. I wouldn't think or act like her. Conversations were not interesting. During parts of the middle the reading was tedious and I wanted the book to be over...more
Oh my gosh.. I love this book to bits! It is definitely, easily one of my favorite reads in 2012. It was raw, real, funny and most definetely heartbreaking. This book was so richly and perfectly detailed. I got to see the Medieval Times in the eyes of Lessa; the architecture, the culture, the injustice of some of the laws, the food..and basically everything that makes Historal books very interesting. The pacing was just lovely and every page of the book justified its greatness. Despite how commo...more
What I like best about this book aside from the fact that it was just plain old fun to read is the Douglass Montgomery learns her worth as a person and a woman. She learns that she deserves better than what she was settling for. She learns that she doesn't have to apologize for not measuring up to what she thi...more
