I had high hopes for this book and was mostly disappointed. It's not that it was bad, it just left me feeling "blah" instead of inspired. It is however a decent resource for information about the wedding culture of the 30's and 40's, the change from hand crafted rings to mass produced ones, changing styles of gowns, veils and portraits. This is what comes of working as a page part time at a library. You pick up the things just because they seem interesting or are in your way as you're trying to put books away...

Picked this one up for those reasons: no orange blossoms, shower of rice or engraved invitations in my future.

Helpful ideas. Not very specific, however I do think by not being really specific, the author will allow brides to make their own judgements on what they like and don't. that makes for a much more personalized wedding.
