Although bordering on simplistic the story and characters are engaging and well-written, and there's a fairly interesting take on an old theme.

Perfectly pleasant historical vampire novel.

Read this series before the Jack Fleming one; its main character has a run-in with Jack.

P. N. Elrod has a very different take on the vampire; hers are good!?! Interesting look at the Revolutionary War from the Loyalist perspective.

Elrod wrote this series of books with Nigel Bennett of Forever Knight fame. You remember, he was Nicholas' maker - LeCroix. So, he's got some "history" when it comes to vampire stuff.

Much ado over nothing. Kept waiting for something meaningful to happen. A watery, slow-paced vampire novel. Not a lot of substance to sink one's teeth into.
