Remember how when you read a collection of Calvin and Hobbes you felt like you had seen the course of a year and when you read another collection right after that you realized another year or more have passed but Calvin is still the same age and no one ever moves or grows or changes? When the strip was still in syndication you went back to school with Calvin whether you were in Junior High or High School. So what if I'm dating myself? Read a collection now and you realize those were your seasons...more

Reading this as an adult was revelatory. Of what, I can't exactly say. But I was at a friend's home, in a strange city that will soon be my home, and I couldn't sleep. I picked up this book, and realized that it really isn't meant for children. Or, at least, not just for children. I read all of Watterson's books when I was a kid, and I now know how much I missed, and how much I absorbed.

I remember being disappointed when this one came out, mostly because it's printed at a bigger size than the previous Calvin and Hobbes books and it made the cartoon shelf of my bookcase look sloppy. That's about the biggest complaint I have against this volume. Oh, the strips don't seem to be quite as funny as Mr. Watterson's previous efforts, but they still manage to make me smile, chuckle or even laugh out loud. The Sunday strips are also in color, a little perk to make up for the book'...more

if it were not for calvin and hobbes, the dark knight wouldve had no counterpoint in the list of major influences on my childhood. to this day, i see the effect of calvin and hobbes on my identity

One of my all-time favorite comic strips. Anyone who has ever had a "best friend" who was a stuffed animal, can relate. Calvin never disappoints.....very funny stuff.

I love Calvin and Hobbes. I miss reading them in the paper. I also love how simple the cartoon is drawn. This cartoon is somewhat why I became a graphic designer.

A little Calvin and Hobbes is just the thing when you are down with the flu or a bad headcold and don't want to have to think at all.

agian with the long format. i guess in the end there were as many in this form as with the other, but it still stuck in my craw.

We have had to buy new copies of all the Calvin and Hobbes books in our house as our books are read to smithereens.

I've read this so many times...Calvin and Hobbes was the best comic strip ever. Better than Peanuts--yeah, I said it.

Calvin and Hobbes is both brilliant and heartwarming. The latter is almost unheard of in the comic strip scene.

Another great book, even though I just read it at Costco, just like "Homicidal Psyhco Jungle Cat".

Fun and entertaining, as always. Watterson can draw facial expressions really well!
