I love Calvin and Hobbes...
Watterson has a great sense of ironic humor. Calvin is the most contradicting 6-year-old that ever lived. On one hand he's this:
or this:
and then he's extremely intelligent on the other hand, and sometimes I don't even understand him.
point taken???
Calvin doesn't care much for interaction with other students at his school and instead conversates with his best friend, a stuffed tiger named Hobbes. ...more

May not be great literature, but Bill Watterson sees something which most of us don't. My life has been diminished by not having the joy of opening the daily paper to some new insight to ourselves through his eyes.
It's laugh out loud funny, but there's nothing that makes this Calvin and Hobbes collection stand out. So what do you call this--mediocre genius?
Best comic strip ever, period.
Yet another among the books published by Bill Watterson from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip that I have enjoyed. My children have literally worn out these collections of C&H comics, and with good reason. C&H is a unique blend of homespun philosophy, side-splitting humor, and insight into the human (child and adult) condition. Watterson's insights into, and sly digs at, various social, familial, and other institutions of modern life are masterful.
Calvin and Hobbes are two of the most hysterical dynamic duo I have seen. The two, a tiger(Hobbes) and 6 year-old superhero(Calvin aka Spaceman Spiff or Stupendous Man) put together a hilarios story, fighting ways of unspeakable evil such as early bedtimes, resricted TV access, "Mom Lady"(Stupendoes Man's archnemisis), baby sitters, and baths, these two are so funny you will never be able to put the book down.
Another brilliant compilation of Calvin and Hobbes comics, ranging from school, Spaceman Spiff adventures, snowman art to the legendary GROSS club. Still amazed at the level of entertainment and pointed social commentary that Watterson is able to squeeze into three panels.
Calvin and Hobbes books are great fun and really witty humor! A childhood staple comic book for me, but even now I go back and read them and understand the humor on a different level (now that I know the meanings of some of the words!). Great books.
One of my favorite of the C+H books, as it came out when my kids were young and getting into reading, so it was a bed time story book and reading it out loud to each other, including all the weird sound effects, just seem to make every strip funnier.
My review for all Calvin and Hobbes books is this:
When you need to relax and laugh, this is a great place to go. Watterson is insightful, hilarious, and very, very funny. Highly recommended.
I grew up on C&H, and I'm very glad I did.

this book is interesting with the illustrations. Calvin and Hobbes is known as a really good comic book because of it's jokes. i'd like to recommend others to read this when they have the time to. it is allows entertaining.
sorry, but i love me some "calvin & hobbes". it was totally my favorite comic in the toledo "blade" when i was a kid, & i was pretty psyched when i was nine or so & discovered that you could buy comic collections from the scholastic book club. man, i miss the scholastic book club, & the occasional book fairs my elementary school would stage. such good times! anyway, this is a "calvin & hobbes" collection, which means that it ruled. lots of calvin being attacked by h...more
I like the first one because Calvin has to get a drink and Hobbes pounces on him and his mom says, "Sleepwalking" and his dad says, "Dreaming," and Calvin says, "Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat."
Comics should be in small doses - reading this in one sitting detracts from the enjoyment. And this is a brainy comic - it takes effort - improves mind power, and I hardly felt relaxed when reading it. It's a stimulant - the relaxing part would be the coloured pages :-)
I read these when I was much younger and also when I wasnt much into reading. I also wasnt very smart. Reading these now the commentary on society jumps out of the pages, and although this isnt laugh out loud humor, it made me snicker to myself on several occasions. I really should try and get my hands on more of these.
I love Calvin and Hobbes so much! I love how Calvin totally stinks in school, and is absolutely smart everywhere else! I recommend this to people who love comedy!
I lost my Calvin and Hobbes book in the fire. We won this (and another one) during a birthday party relay race. So fun to read. This book has a few of the snowmen that Calvin makes which made me happy.
I've read this cover to cover so many times I can't even remember. I laugh so hard every time! Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes is such a wonderful creation.
89/100 Calvin and Hobbes is a world renowned cartoon, about a boy and his tiger. Quite comical, with a little satire too. Give this one a read. It's good.
These Calvin and Hobbes comics are seriously my pleasures. I will reread the same one over a thousand times and still laugh and enjoy myself. I love exploring the world of Calvin and Hobbes, where everything is either serious, comical, thoughtful, gross, or carefree. I reccomend these comics a lot. :). Bye!
I never really "got" Calvin and Hobbes. Housesitting for a friend and she had several collections. Really enjoyed this. Quite funny and clever.
Oh yeah, I'm starting Calvin and Hobbes again. So funny. And now that I'm older, so wise and brilliant. I'm consistently amazed by this strip.
An excellent answer for if ever any one asks you 'what's wrong'?
Yell, Homicidal Jungle Cat! And point wildly over your shoulder.

I've paged through these collections so many times, they start falling apart. Watterson still makes me laugh out loud! Best comic ever!
I absolutely love Calvin and Hobbes. This is one of the best comic strips ever written. Calvin and Hobbes will make you laugh every time.
What can I say, I just love Calvin and Hobbes. Unique & twisted. Has the knack, like the Muppets, of being able to entertain younsters & adults at the same time on different levels.
The stories of Calvin and Hobbes make me laugh so hard that I cry. May favorite cartoon ever! Wonderful!!
So much more entertaining now that I have a Calvin of my own! Watterson must have had boys!
Funny! my favorite part is when Calvin gets lost in a dream and thinks he's in a space house.

Bill Watterson (born William Boyd Watterson II) is an American cartoonist, and the author of the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes". His career as a syndicated cartoonist ran from 1985 to 1995; he stopped drawing "Calvin and Hobbes" at the end of 1995 with a short statement to newspaper editors and his fans that he felt he had achieved all he could in the comic strip medium. “Calvin: I used to hate writing assignments, but now I enjoy them. I realized that the purpose of writing is to inflate weak ideas, obscure poor reasoning, and inhibit clarity. With a little practice, writing can be an intimidating and impenetrable fog! Want to see my book report?
