I love Calvin and Hobbes...
Watterson has a great sense of ironic humor. Calvin is the most contradicting 6-year-old that ever lived. On one hand he's this:

or this:

and then he's extremely intelligent on the other hand, and sometimes I don't even understand him.

point taken???
Calvin doesn't care much for interaction with other students at his school and instead conversates with his best friend, a stuffed tiger named Hobbes. Their always making smart remarks and doing creatively stupid things. The b...more

Words once again fail me here... Are we even good enough to review a Calvn and Hobbes book? Should mortals attempt to? The stories by Bill Watterson amaze me every single time. I am sure that if it comes down to a verbal duel, I would miserably fail against Calvin. I would simply have to stand back and probably bow in respect to the kid's understanding of the world. For those who have never read a Calvin and Hobbes book ever in their lives, my sympathies are with you! For those who actually have...more
I enjoyed the colored versions in this book as well as the themes! Calvin and Hobbes' adventures make me feel wistful about my own childhood.
There was one part I teared up at: the little raccoon. And how Calvin's father frowned so sadly at Calvin crying. ):
The size of the book is cool though! Too bad novels aren't printed that way...
This comic makes you realize how you need to cherish your childhood imagination, and how one needs to protect nature.

Yet another among the books published by Bill Watterson from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip that I have enjoyed. My children have literally worn out these collections of C&H comics, and with good reason. C&H is a unique blend of homespun philosophy, side-splitting humor, and insight into the human (child and adult) condition. Watterson's insights into, and sly digs at, various social, familial, and other institutions of modern life are masterful.
I ♥ Calvin & Hobbes

The Calvin and Hobbes series was a large part of my childhood and kept me entertained even if I didn't understand all of Watterson's ideas that he brought up (such as conservation and reflections on childhood). It's a good series to read again, reminding me of growing up, and also bringing up issues that adults can relate to.
Of course... it's just fun to read a latchkey child's adventures too.

Why is it that whenever I'm feeling a little low, all I have to do is pull one of the Calvin & Hobbes books from the shelf and give it a good re-read to perk me up. I've many other "funny-books", but these are the ones that bring me most joy.
Then, a little after I am done, I start re-realizing that Watterson will probably never do any more, then I get sad again.
I'm very grateful for what I have... and I'll re-read them as many times as I need... I just wish there were more.

Where does one begin with Calvin and Hobbes? Bill Watterson is just awesome! My ten year old cousin enjoys the simplicity of Calvin and Hobbes. As you get older you appreciate it on a different level. The subliminal messages that are so brilliantly added in the comics is so great! Watterson's imagination and ingenuity astounds me! I love him!
Fall in love all over again ! :)

I love Calvin and Hobbes. This came about as I was a child staying at another parent's home that had a bookshelf filled with about a dozen C&H collections. I read through them within several days. The stories tend to run together a little in my mind, but I enjoyed Calvin's boyish self-centered musings, as well as Hobbes often ridiculous rejoinders. I especially liked the father's explanations of how things worked. If you didn't get it by now, I enjoyed these books. :)
Calvin and Hobbes are two of the most hysterical dynamic duo I have seen. The two, a tiger(Hobbes) and 6 year-old superhero(Calvin aka Spaceman Spiff or Stupendous Man) put together a hilarios story, fighting ways of unspeakable evil such as early bedtimes, resricted TV access, "Mom Lady"(Stupendoes Man's archnemisis), baby sitters, and baths, these two are so funny you will never be able to put the book down.
sorry, but i love me some "calvin & hobbes". it was totally my favorite comic in the toledo "blade" when i was a kid, & i was pretty psyched when i was nine or so & discovered that you could buy comic collections from the scholastic book club. man, i miss the scholastic book club, & the occasional book fairs my elementary school would stage. such good times! anyway, this is a "calvin & hobbes" collection, which means that it ruled. lots of calvin being attacked by hobbes, whi...more
I read these when I was much younger and also when I wasnt much into reading. I also wasnt very smart. Reading these now the commentary on society jumps out of the pages, and although this isnt laugh out loud humor, it made me snicker to myself on several occasions. I really should try and get my hands on more of these.
These Calvin and Hobbes comics are seriously my pleasures. I will reread the same one over a thousand times and still laugh and enjoy myself. I love exploring the world of Calvin and Hobbes, where everything is either serious, comical, thoughtful, gross, or carefree. I reccomend these comics a lot. :). Bye!

Bill Watterson (born William Boyd Watterson II) is an American cartoonist, and the author of the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes". His career as a syndicated cartoonist ran from 1985 to 1995; he stopped drawing "Calvin and Hobbes" at the end of 1995 with a short statement to newspaper editors and his fans that he felt he had achieved all he could in the comic strip medium. During the early years of...more

“Calvin: I used to hate writing assignments, but now I enjoy them. I realized that the purpose of writing is to inflate weak ideas, obscure poor reasoning, and inhibit clarity. With a little practice, writing can be an intimidating and impenetrable fog! Want to see my book report?
