I remember reading this book in my late teens and loving it. I bought it as a hardback and read it in the early 80s. I can't remember the character's names, but I remember the story clearly. Very good romantic novel.

Oh, I just remembered something else. Alan Parson's Project had a song called 'Time' that came out about the same time. I used to play this while I read the book. The lyrics were very appropriate with the book I think.

I found this in a box of my mom's old books. I don't really read romances anymore, but this line on the back convinced me to give it a try:

"Together they loved and to protect their love—and lives—they killed."

So I was like, "Whaaaat? The heroine goes on a killing spree in this book? Hell. Yes." Unfortunately, that's not what happened. This is about as predictable as any other romance. It's too boring for me. I don't need to finish it.

When I was still reading "lust in the dust" romances, this was one of my favorites! I loved all of Patrica Matthews' books.

I'm pretty new to the bodice ripper genre, so I've been stockpiling a hoard of vintage romances and gothics in order to get better acquainted. Now that I've finally got some time to myself I intend to go on a mass reading and reviewing spree. TIDES OF LOVE was the first on my list, and man, is it a doozy.

Shipwrecks, rape, more rape, murder, shanghais, pursuit, love triangles, revenge, naughty island girls, court hearings...more
