Recommends it for: botanists, gardeners, fairy lovers
From apple blossoms to zinnias this is an adorable little book. Cicely Mary Barker's illustrations are absolutely perfect. Each flower is accompanied by a little fairy who is costumed to perfectly match the flower. And like all her other flower fairy collections there is a poem for each flower. She even found a way to include unlukcy 'U' and saucy 'X'.

Recommends it for: young readers
A beautiful little book with pictures and poems. My daughter was introduced to poetry with this book and still spends time daydreaming about the flower fairies. The poems are all well written and easy for young readers to follow.

Cicely Mary Barker was the illustrator who created the famous Flower Fairies; those ethereal smiling children with butterfly wings. As a child she was influenced by the works of the illustrator Kate Greenaway, whom she assiduously copied in her formative years. Her principal influence, however, was the artwork of the Pre-Raphaelites.
