This book is a wonderful and detailed reference, and moreover, a delight to both read and look at. The photographic quality and attention to construction details, including stitching, takes my breath, and questions, away.
Anyone who loves historic dress or sews period pieces for stage, reenacting, museums, or otherwise, should own this book.

I really liked that the book gave close up views of the details and that it even had a section on construction. I just wish there were more full views of the dresses along with the line drawing and close ups.

This is my favorite of this collection of books. The amount of work and effort that went into making clothes from this period is staggering.

And the photos are gorgeous.

The V&A improves on the previous book by including photos of the entire garment, not just the detail. The detail is really amazing.
