AH~ This volume was actually kind of peaceful. It wasn't as intense as the one before this. Well, if you don't count the part with Rin... that was pretty intense... and the parts with Kyo. XP But other than that, it only involved things happening at school, future worries, and Shigure being a devious little monster like always! (I must say, I love how evil he can get. It pleases me~ *Smirks*) I wasn't as "ROAR!!! DIE!!!" in this volume, which is good because... man, I thought I was going to lose...more

Right from the start this manga had me hooked. How can you not like Tohru? She has to be one of the sweetest people on the planet. All the hopes of breaking the Sohma curse fall on her head. It was interesting to see the relationships grow and change throughout this series. Not only are the characters great, but the storylines were fantastic, although somewhat depressing at times. This is the one series that everyone should read. It was outstanding.
Friends, it has been a few weeks since my last Fruits Basket update, and I figured I’d best post another one. Especially because I appear to have gained several followers who are solely interested in manga reads.
Hello followers! Hello!
Unfortunately, I read this about two months ago and just never got around to reviewing it, and now I’m not entirely sure what happened.
So… um… hold up a second. I’m going to go find it on the shelf and do a quick flip through.
Please wait.

Alright, now I have finally read the twelfth volume of the “Fruits Basket” series by Natsuki Takaya and it was a pleasant read. In this volume, a whole new school year is starting up and Yuki starts meeting the new members of the student council including Kimi a girl who is beautiful enough to capture men’s hearts and Naohito, who already sees Yuki as a rival in the student council. Also, Tohru goes and visits her grandfather who has fallen ill and her grandfather reveals some secrets about her...more
a lot of vague stuff going on in this one: back to school-- tohru goes to kyo's shishou to ask if he knows how to break the sohma curse. kagura tells kyo why she first started liking him in the first place, in in the process realizes how strong her feelings are. yuki and haru have a strange encounter with rin. shigure stands in for tohru's ailing grandfather at parent-teacher conferences, while yuki's mom reschedules. everyone tells tohru to calm down and relax. amen.

Love this installment mainly because of what we find out between Kagura and Kyo. I totally didn't expect it, but now, upon reading it, it makes complete sense.
Kagura had always annoyed me a bit because she seemed two-dimensional, forever loving Kyo to the point it got really old and annoying. And then... we learn the reasons behind it, and everything turns around. NATSUKI TAKAYA I LOVE YOU. Kyo and Kagura playing together were cute... I loved learning about their childhood....more

Summer vacation is finally over. It's fun seeing the Tohru and the Sohma kids back at school. I'm glad to see Hana-chan and Uo-chan back in the story, although I would have liked to see more of them.
Each Fruits Basket volume goes into depth on one character's story. This time it's Kagura's turn. We know her as the girl who is obsessed with Kyo. As her character summary says, she is "determined to marry Kyo, even if it kills him." Now we see how their relationship developed. They were great buddi...more

I'm really beginning to love all the character development that is going on, especially with Kyo. (KyoxTohru!) Things have definitely started to hold onto that darker feel now that we know about the fate of the cat. It will be interesting to see where all of this goes.
Kagura was also really great in this volume, previous to this we haven't ever gotten into her character backstory beyond her Kyo "love". (and still haven't really.)

Good volume... Yuki doesn't back down at taking on his role of president of the student council. Tohru asks Kyo's Shisho about the Sohma curse, and gets a sort of vague answer--all we know is that Akito has something to do with it, almost like a hub around which all of the juunishi revolve... if that makes any sense. Kagura finally gets over herself in some touching scenes with Kyo, and Rin appears again... I must admit, I'm not really a fan of Rin at this point. Waaaay too uptight. If the patte...more

It’s getting really good, and I can’t wait to see what happens next! I mean, I know what happens, but I’ve sorta forgotten, so I’ll be reminded. The artwork is great, and we learn about the year of the monkey. Plus, the fan art is really interesting to see, and there’s even a poem included in the fan art section.
There really isn’t a whole lot to review in this volume, because there really isn’t a lot that happens, but the series is pretty consistent. There’s a good story and some great illustra...more

Let me just say that I am not the least bit interested in the student council. I've already started reading the next volume and there's more about them in that. Please, God, don't let this go on forever. I'm pretty much just interested in the Sohma family and Tohru and her friends. Everyone else, I could care less about. All this mess with the student council just seems pointless to me.

I'm reviewing this volume in the midst of falling asleep on my keyboard. And my first review nonetheless. This is my second or third time reading this volume. I just needed a little refresher, since I'm actually reading volume 14.
Typically, I don't like heroines who are overly kind and incredibly selfless. They annoy me since they never seem to have any flaws, making them seem less realistic. But that's not the case with Tohru. I like her and I find her simply adorable. But I also like her becau...more

So much good stuff in this volume! Rin/Haru interaction is lovey, and Tohru begins to actively look for a way to break the curse, starting by asking Shishou if he knows a way. Absolutey heart-breaking chapter wherein Kagura finally begins to relinquish her spastic love of Kyou. Best of all, Haru, Rin, and Mayuko all confront Shigure about his manipulations (though whether or not it'll have any effect on him remains to be seen).
This story is just getting better and better for me. There's some great character development in this volume. Nothing major happens in this one, but important details are revealed. My favorite scene by far is Tohru's parent-teacher conference. Mayuko and Shigure's behavior had me grinning from ear to ear! Also there was a nice touching and emotional scene between Kagura and Kyo.
I loved this series. I was really happy with how the series resolved (considering that the anime doesn't finish). The story was well thought out, and I was happy that they resolved everything with the couples and their explanation of character backgrounds and the individuals history. Recommned this to any anime/manga fan!
- I can't believe the person on the cover is a man!
- I used to like Shigure, but now I'm thinking he is kind of evil.
- Is Kagura going to leave Kyo alone now? Did she finally realize what was going on?
- I still want to know what is up with Rin. Why is she being so distant and spazzy?
- There are WAY too many characters in the manga! I can barely remember who is who!

This volume kinda felt like a break compared to the last one. It's as if all the characters are given time to catch their breath before they are going to be flung into the chaotic events of the future...
I can't wait XD!!!
