Continuing with Hooper and my current mood for thrillers I decided to pick Whisper of Evil next. We get to know a new FBI agent, Nell Gallagher, who returns to her hometown of Silence after 10 years away. She left one day, without explanations to friends or boyfriend which means that on her return he feels he is entitled to some explanations. Officially she is back to settle her late father's estate, unofficially she is there as an FBI agent to look into some murders of well know citizens who ar

I liked the way the whole psychic abilities thing was explained and demystified through conversations held by characters. I also liked the slow reveal of key characters interlocking pasts. I enjoyed the character focus generally actually. Set in the deliciously interesting town called Silence, it was really about the characters with the mystery slowly reaching out to grab me. In other words I didn't really care about the crime or the killer for a long time.

My first Kay Hooper's book and loved it. What a great storyline! It has witty, sarcastic lines as well. My kind of story. Everybody are not what they seem to be. This is the kind of book that once you pick it up, you could never put it down (well, if you're into paranormal, thriller and msyteries all wrapped into one, that is...) . It made me kept on reading untill wee hours in the morning because I really really want to know who the killer is! Surprising ending, a bit sad as well! What a twist!

The second book in the Evil trilogy, Whisper of Evil isn't quite as good as its predecessor, but still a great story to read. Nell Gallagher goes home to Silence, after running away without a word 12 years previously, to settle her father's estate after his death. When she gets there, the whole town is talking about the murdered men...and the dark secrets they kept whilst alive. So Nell teams up with the man she left behind, Max Tanner, and together they're determined to find the killer. But wit

The story was OK, though it dragged in several parts. There were a couple of surprise revelations and twists, but the reader is forced to slog through a bunch of tedious dialogue before coming to this, practically at the end of the book.
Revisiting with characters from the earlier books was a treat. I liked most of the characters in this book that weren't in the other books. The villain was a surprise.

This book had a rather interesting twist at the end that was completely unexpected. It kept me guessing throughout most of the book. I take an interest anyway in books that discuss the paranormal and psychic abilities, but to add in a twist the way this book did just makes me want to read more. For anyone who enjoys reading about psychic abilities, mysteries, and crime all combined into one novel, this book is highly recommended. I will definitely be getting Kay Hooper's last book in this trilog

My first Kay Hooper and I will read more but I thought the story line was difficult to follow at times as far as the characters went. Once I got to the end it wall came together withs ome great twists and turns but was frustrating at times before getting there. The psychic stuff was done in a interesting way that opened my eyes to many things.

If you are into psychic phenomena this series is really interesting. There's a branch of the FBI who's agents have psychic abilities. This story is about a woman who's abilities are passed on in the family. Returning home after twelve years is difficult but there's a case of a serial killer to be solved. The who done is exciting.

Yet another compelling read from Kay Hooper! This one really had me guessing. I thought for sure I had the killer figured out in this one but was shocked as usual. Hooper certainly has the knack for keeping you guessing until the very, very end!

It was a little hard to keep track of who some of the characters were, but that may be due to the fact that I didn't read Evil, #1. Some parts were also slightly confusing and jumped around. Overall, it was a pretty decent book that kept me interested.

WHISPER OF EVIL-Sold-Okay
Hooper, Kay
Reluctant psychic Nell Gallagher never planned to return home to Silence, especially not to settle the affairs of her father, whom she hated, or to help solve a string of murders that has the local sheriff scratching his head. But before long, she teams up with her old high school flame, Max Tanner, to root out the killer.
While the romantic tension between Nell and Max is strong, the book's action is virtually nonexistent. Instead, Hoop More...

This was the first book I read from Kay Hooper, and I fell in L-O-V-E! The characters were so vivid! She made me believe that psychic powers do exist!

Just finished this thriller - was pretty good. I couldn't put it down and had no idea who the "killer" was at all! All in all a fun read!

I lost interest in this story. For a mystery, it didn't make me want to keep reading.

Awesome book. I intend to read more of her books. A psychic goes back to her home town under the guise of settling her father's estate. Only she and 2 there with her know her real reason for being there. She is trying to use her gift to help locate the killer who has being killing men in the town . Nell also has to face demons from her own past. I loved this book. It was well written and didn't reveal all the secrets at the beginning. Kept me guessing to the killer and the agent there helping

So sorry I waited to continue this series - it's fantastic. This will tie with #3 and my favorites in the series (so far!). Excellent read, could not put it down. This was one you had to stay up late and finish because you were too wrapped up in the story to wait. Excellent read.
