Most succesful for me when it's free flowing-- great images and great associative thinking. Sometimes, though, I can clearly sense the author calculating. But, passages, like "The Chinese have 3 and 1/2 years to figure out how to keep the rain out of the Olympics. This has to do with probability. A piano under water in New Orleans. A photograph of music." make this well worth reading.

Ask the photograph. It says science. It says spoon. It says you will not remember...
